Meghan Markle Reportedly Has Some "Secret" Visits Planned for Her and Prince Harry's Trip to the UK - TownandCountrymag.com

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will soon travel back to the UK for a final round of engagements, before their new arrangement officially takes effect at the end of March. This week, a loose itinerary was revealed for the trip—but it may not have been complete.

According to the Telegraph, Prince Harry has an additional public engagement slated for the couple's 12-day visit (an event in Scotland promoting his sustainable travel initiative, Travalyst) and Meghan has some more under-the-radar plans in the works.

The Duchess is "expected to run her own series of private engagements" alongside her previously announced public appearances (those would be the Endeavour Fund Awards on March 5, the Mountbatten Music Festival on March 7, an International Women's Day event on March 8, and the Commonwealth Day service on March 9). The Telegraph reports that, as with the Duchess's private engagements in the past, these visits will likely be shared after the fact on social media.

Some royal watchers had hoped that Meghan might make an appearance at a British Vogue event with Salma Hayek on March 7, which seems to have a connection to the Duchess's guest-edited issue of the magazine, titled "Forces for Change." Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enninful announced the discussion on Instagram this week, calling it "the very first @BritishVogue #ForcesForChange event" in a caption, and promising Hayek and "a host of my dear friends" would join him for a talk. However, sources tell the Telegraph that she won't attend, noting that she's scheduled to attend the Mountbatten Music Festival alongside Harry that day.

Meghan Markle Has No Claim to the Royal Fortune if She Divorces Prince Harry, Even Without a Prenup - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

It’s not a pleasant thing to think about, but considering the royal family’s track record with divorce, it’s at least worth mentioning. With Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex making major life decisions like exiting the royal family as senior working royals, it’s causing some fans to question what would happen if they split.

The couple seems more in love and happier than ever right now. But the year is young, and since both Harry and Meghan have divorced parents, they are statistically more likely to get divorced themselves. Plus, Meghan was married and divorced once already.

If the Duke and Duchess of Sussex did call it quits, they’d have a lot of arrangements to work out, including a mutually approved custody agreement. But one thing the royal family won’t have to worry about is Meghan getting away with any of the royal fortune — even though this couple never signed a prenup.

Prince Harry said no to a prenup because he didn’t believe his marriage could end

Prenups — especially ones with wild clauses — are a mainstay in Hollywood. But the royal family plays by different rules and therefore doesn’t bother with prenups most of the time.

Rumor has it that royal courtiers did urge Prince Harry to sign a prenup before marrying Meghan, but he refused because he figured there was no chance of getting divorced. “He’s determined that his marriage will be a lasting one, so there’s no need for him to sign anything,” a friend of his told Daily Mail.

Most royal family members don’t bother with prenuptial agreements

It turns out the Duke of Sussex’s decision to skip the prenup wasn’t too strange. In fact, most royals don’t bother with prenuptial agreements because even if they did get divorced, there’s no way of their former spouses accessing the royal fortune.

According to Forbes, the British royal family is worth around $88 billion, with the queen’s net worth at right around $500 million of that. But even though royal spouses enjoy the benefits of being married to such a wealthy family, it doesn’t mean the money ever belongs to them.

For example, Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex currently reside at Frogmore Cottage — though they did say they’ll be splitting their time between there and North America. If the couple divorces, they wouldn’t get to sell the property and split the profits because it never technically belonged to them in the first place.

The property is owned by the Crown Estate, which is overseen by Queen Elizabeth.

Prenups aren’t enforced in the United Kingdom

American royal fans might be surprised to find that prenuptial agreements aren’t legally binding in the United Kingdom anyway, so getting one is more of a formality than anything. However, when a huge difference of assets exists between a couple, it can be a wise decision to draw up paperwork that may be used during divorce proceedings.

The royal family knows there is no way for Meghan to get a chunk of their money if she and Prince Harry divorce. But she could be entitled to some of Harry’s personal fortune, which comes from his inheritance and other personal assets. It’s all going to depend on how good her lawyer is at arguing the case.

Or, they might stay together forever, which would make this entire speculation moot. We can only hope!

How Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's Post-Royal Life Puts Archie First - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Meghan, Duchess of Sussex and Prince Harry have officially begun their new, post-royal life. Their new schedule is a whirlwind of around-the-world appearances, speaking engagements, and planning meetings — all free from palace interference.

While the couple has been keeping quiet, for the most part, fans have started to eagerly anticipate their next move and where they could pop up next. The one constant in Meghan and Prince Harry’s life these days is their young son, Archie Harrison.

There’s no doubt that their new life has a lot of uncertainty. But, according to a recent report, their biggest priority is crystal clear.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry’s exit statement referenced Archie Harrison

On January 8th, Prince Harry and Meghan shocked the whole world when they announced that they would be retiring as senior royals and that they wanted to start making their own income, separate from the royal family. In their statement, the couple revealed that they intended to split their time between the United Kingdom and the United States, which would enable them to raise their son “with an appreciation for the royal tradition into which he was born.”

In the weeks since the bombshell announcement, fans and critics have been trying to figure out what exactly led to the royal couple’s big announcement. There’s little doubt that Meghan has been under attack from critics and tabloids ever since she started dating Prince Harry, and her unhappiness likely had something to do with their decision.

However, it also seems very likely that the couple did truly want to remove their son from a life where he would be constantly scrutinized and criticized.

Archie Harrison has been sheltered from the spotlight

Archie Harrison was born in May 2018. As he is the first child for Meghan and Prince Harry, there was a great deal of excitement and anticipation surrounding his birth.

Although the public was eager to see the new royal baby, Meghan and Prince Harry were determined to keep their son well away from the media’s prying eyes. They stepped out for a quick interview in the days following his birth, but other than that, made every effort to shield their newborn from the public.

Royal baby baptisms are traditionally a huge celebration. However, Meghan and Prince Harry fought tradition and kept Archie Harrison’s baptism ceremony very private and didn’t even reveal the name of his godparents. They received a great deal of criticism for their decision, but the couple remained firm.

Many royal fans believed that Prince Harry was spearheading the move to keep Archie Harrison’s life more private, as the result of having spent his entire life in the spotlight.

While Prince Harry and Meghan haven’t quite established their new home base yet, and are reported to be looking at houses in Los Angeles, they are still taking the time to be devoted parents to their little one. A recent report features an interview with a royal source, who claims Meghan and Prince Harry’s lives these days include lots of one-on-one time with Archie Harrison.

The source revealed that “Archie is the priority. It’s very much still about taking care of him and putting the family first. He’s a happy kid—he loves to laugh.”

It seems likely that in their new life, Meghan and Prince Harry will ensure that Archie Harrison gets to spend some quality time with select family members such as Doria Ragland, Meghan’s mother. Through it all, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have proven that they are willing to do whatever it takes to make sure that their son has a happy, well-adjusted childhood.

Meet the Meghan Markle Superfan Trying to Spread a Rare Positive Message About the Royals - Showbiz Cheat Sheet

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, as prominent members of the royal family, have received a lot of tabloid backlash. Since the Duke and Duchess’s 2018 royal wedding, the press has been straight up mean–usually about Meghan Markle. But one recent viral video showed a different side to the royal couple–a happy one. The Huffington Post recently talked to a huge royal superfan who makes positive videos of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle go viral.

Why Twitter fans loved this video of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Recently on Twitter, a royal fan account tweeted a video of Meghan Markle and Prince Harry. In the now-viral video, Harry is adjusting Meghan’s hair; we see him do this at various events throughout the video montage. In one clip, Prince Harry smoothes his wife’s hair after a gust of wind throws it about; in another clip, he fixes Meghan’s ponytail.

The video showing off Prince Harry’s small acts of kindness towards his wife went completely viral. It racked up over 29 million views, 164,000 retweets, and 733,000 likes. (Rihanna “liked” the video, which should be all you need to know.).

“The most attentive husband,” read the tweeter’s caption.

The Twitter account, @ ddarveyy, was recently interviewed by the Huffington Post. (The royal superfan goes just by Michelle in the article.)

Twitter fan loved Meghan Markle before the royal wedding and the royal baby

The person behind the @ddarveyy handle, Michelle, told Huffington Post she’s loved Meghan Markle “long before she met Prince Harry.” She explained why she stans so hard:

I came to see the genuine and kindhearted person she is. I was specifically impressed with all that she has achieved throughout her life and all the humanitarian work she has dedicated herself [to]. She was (and still is) somebody who really cares about not only the work she completes but also the people who follow it.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle make updates ‘easy’ for the royal fan

Michelle says it’s not too hard to find positive content around Prince Harry and Meghan Markle.

“When you follow each of their engagements, it’s not that hard to see the love and positivity they spread which makes coming up with content easy,” she shared.

Michelle admits it’s “very overwhelming” to have her stuff go viral. Still, she’s glad it’s not the negative angles that get all the attention when it comes to royal news.

“I enjoy it because it helps spread the love and word on Harry and Meghan,” Michelle explained. “There is a lot of negative and unfair press against them, specifically Meghan, which is a shame and really disappointing.”

What is the ‘SussexSquad’?

Michelle also told HuffPo she’s a member of the “SussexSquad.” They define themselves as “the ever-growing group of online defenders speaking up on behalf of the Sussexes.” Since Meghan Markle has received an onslaught of hate, both online and not, it’s important she has a group of optimistic supporters.

The tweeter says her feed is a “way for me to connect with other individuals who also share similar interests.” It’s all love from Michelle when it comes to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

“Harry and Meghan really inspire us to participate and help support good causes and I think that’s really important for people who have such a large platform,” The Meghan Markle superfan said.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry say the Queen doesn't own the word 'royal' - Fox News

Standing up to the Queen!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stunned fans last month when the couple announced they would be stepping back as senior members of the royal family. On Friday, the pair's spokesperson confirmed that, as a part of this plan, the Duke and Duchess will refrain from using the word "royal" or "Sussex Royal" brand in any capacity going forward, citing "specific UK government rules" as the reason.

"The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use 'Sussex Royal' in any territory post-Spring 2020," the spokesperson told People magazine.

But in a more lengthy post on Harry and Meghan's official website, the pair detail exactly how the transition will take place while also insisting that  the Queen does not have any ownership over the term "Royal."

"While there is not any jurisdiction by The Monarchy or Cabinet Office over the use of the word 'Royal' overseas, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex do not intend to use 'Sussex Royal' or any iteration of the word 'Royal' in any territory (either within the UK or otherwise) when the transition occurs Spring 2020," Harry and Meghan wrote on their official website.

The "Royal" debacle is just one of several changes the Duke and Duchess of Sussex touched upon in their "Spring 2020 Transition" post on their website on Friday.

MEGHAN MARKLE, PRINCE HARRY 'GENUINELY HAPPY' IN CANADA AFTER ESCAPING CHAOS IN UK: REPORT

"We are pleased to now be able to share with you an update on many of the details agreed at a meeting of The Royal Family in January 2020, which outlines The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s new roles, taking effect Spring 2020," the post reads. "We had hoped to be allowed to share these details with you sooner (to mitigate any confusion and subsequent misreporting), but the facts below should help provide some clarification around this transition and the steps for the future."

The details outlined on the website include: a previously reported review period that will take place after 12 months; the Sussexes will be financially independent; they will retain but will not use their HRH -- His or Her Royal Highness -- titles; and they won't make any "representative duties" on behalf of the Queen, but they will be allowed to maintain their patronages.

In addition, Prince Harry will still keep his place as sixth in line to the throne.

The website concluded by sharing that in Spring 2020, the Sussexes' "digital channels will be refreshed as they introduce the next exciting phase to you."

Trump Has the Absolute Worst Taste in Movies - The Daily Beast

On Thursday evening, at one of his ego-nourishing rallies, President Donald Trump took aim at Parasite, Bong Joon-ho’s South Korean satire that made history as the first foreign film to win the Best Picture Oscar.

“By the way, how bad were the Academy Awards this year? You see ‘em? And the winner is…a movie from South Korea. What the hell is that about?” bellowed a rather clammy Trump. “Was it good? I don’t know. I’m looking for like, let’s get Gone with the Wind. Can we get Gone with the Wind back, please? Sunset Boulevard, so many great movies.”

Let’s first address the dog-whistle inclusion of Gone with the Wind. There isn’t a snowball’s chance in hell that Trump, who has the attention span of a meerkat on high-grade cocaine, has sat through Victor Fleming’s four-hour-long Civil War epic. What he may be aware of, however, is how the 1939 film—winner of 10 Academy Awards including Best Picture, and the highest-grossing movie ever when adjusted for inflation—is a neo-Confederate monument; one that romanticizes slavery and the antebellum South, and envisions its wealthy white protagonists as hallowed victims swallowed up by the chaos of Reconstruction. Hattie McDaniel’s Mammy, the head slave of the film’s sprawling southern plantation, comes from a long line of racist (and likely mythical) stereotypes of “mammy” house slaves (selfless, grandmotherly) dating back to Uncle Tom’s Cabin that were used by Confederate apologists to soften and even attempt to legitimize the unequivocally racist and dehumanizing institution.

McDaniel, who eventually became the first Black Oscar winner for her performance, was barred from the film’s Atlanta premiere due to segregation, and was seated not with the Gone with the Wind cast and crew but at a small table in the back of the Cocoanut Grove nightclub at the 1940 Academy Awards ceremony (producer David O. Selznick had to lobby the venue to get her in the building). Her dying wish, to be buried in Hollywood Cemetery, was also denied because of its whites-only policy.

Is this the Hollywood that Trump wants to return to?

Also…Sunset Boulevard? The film, for the record, didn’t win Best Picture, losing to All About Eve, but more than that, are we to really believe that Trump, a sexist monster who publicly mocked Kim Novak’s appearance at the 2014 Oscars, empathized with the plight of an aging silent-film actress? (Norma Desmond’s delusions of grandeur, maybe.)

There’s a long, strange history of U.S. presidents screening films in the White House. The first, regrettably, was D.W. Griffith’s racist celebration of the Ku Klux Klan, The Birth of a Nation, viewed by Woodrow Wilson in the East Room on Feb. 18, 1915. Bill Clinton’s inaugural screening was Lorenzo’s Oil, a crowdsourced pick if there ever was one. Trump’s was Finding Dory, whose message of inclusion appeared to be lost on Trump, according to the film’s star Ellen DeGeneres.

Over the past century, presidents have also been queried on their favorite films. Lyndon B. Johnson would watch a 10-minute short about himself, narrated by Gregory Peck, over and over again in the White House, while Ronald Reagan, a former Hollywood actor, would suffer through his own mediocre oeuvre on his birthday each year. Gerald Ford’s favorite movie, funnily enough, was said to be Home Alone (Trump would later make a cameo in its sequel). Years ago, when a Twitter user asked Trump to name his favorite films, the then-reality-TV host cited Citizen Kane, Gone with the Wind, and The Good, The Bad and the Ugly. Yet when it comes to Orson Welles’ magnum opus, chronicling the rise and fall of a power-hungry media tycoon, he’s made it resoundingly clear that he has no grasp on the film’s central message.

When asked for the one piece of advice he’d give Charles Foster Kane, [Trump] offered: “Get yourself a different woman.”

As part of the 2002 Oscars, famed documentarian Errol Morris was given the unenviable task of filming influential pop-culture figures discussing their favorite movies. Trump picked Citizen Kane, and, when asked for the one piece of advice he’d give Charles Foster Kane, offered: “Get yourself a different woman.”

Morris opened up to The Ringer about the surrealness of that moment. “So he starts to tell me about Charles Foster Kane, who he identifies with. And what was Charles Foster Kane’s real problem? Was his problem that he was a megalomaniac? Not so much. Was his problem that he treated people around him miserably? Nah! What was his problem? According to Donald Trump, his problem was the woman he married.”

He later added of the encounter, “It’s obvious: this person is insane.”

Though Citizen Kane and Gone with the Wind are fashionable picks, Trump’s real favorite movie is rumored to be Bloodsport, the 1988 martial-arts flick starring the Muscles from Brussels, Jean-Claude Van Damme. Writer Mark Singer was the first to document Trump’s fixation with Bloodsport in a 1997 profile for The New Yorker.

Whilst flying around in Trump’s tacky, gold-plated private jet, Singer recalled, “We hadn’t been airborne long when Trump decided to watch a movie. He’d brought along Michael, a recent release, but twenty minutes after popping it into the VCR he got bored and switched to an old favorite, a Jean Claude Van Damme slugfest called Bloodsport, which he pronounced ‘an incredible, fantastic movie.’”

The bankrupted real-estate mogul’s attention span was so low that, according to Singer, Trump would make his then-teenage son, Donald Trump Jr., fast-forward to all the fight scenes: “By assigning to his son the task of fast-forwarding through all the plot exposition—Trump’s goal being ‘to get this two-hour movie down to forty-five minutes’—he eliminated any lulls between the nose hammering, kidney tenderizing, and shin whacking.” (That 19-year-old Don Jr. served as Trump’s private jet remote-control servant explains so very much.)

Trump’s questionable taste in movies and culture-war carnival-barking notwithstanding, what we can be certain of is that he is truly, madly, deeply obsessed with the Academy Awards. He live-tweeted the Oscars in 2013 and 2014, would regularly call in to Fox & Friends to deliver Monday-morning recaps of the show, and has repeatedly lobbied to host the ceremony on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook, and Vine (RIP).

Occasionally, similar to his Parasite ramblings, he’s injected a dose of xenophobia into his commentary. At the 2015 Oscars, which saw Birdman win Best Picture and Alejandro G. Inarritu (who is Mexican) take home Best Director, Trump made the following complaint: “The Oscars were a great night for Mexico & why not—they are ripping off the US more than almost any other nation.”

Four months later he’d announce his presidential run with an even more racist rant against Mexicans

It’s easy to see why Trump wouldn’t enjoy Parasite. In addition to his fondness for North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un, whose cult of personality is lampooned in the film, it is a class-warfare comedy about a poor, basement-dwelling family targeting—and exposing the ignorance of—those in gilded cages not unlike the one Trump’s lived in for the better part of his adult life. Plus, as the film’s distributor Neon pointed out, the film is accompanied by subtitles and Trump is said to have an aversion to reading:

Given Trump’s apparent love of movies, numerous film cameos—including a Worst Supporting Actor Razzie nod for his pouty turn in a movie about a woman sexing a ghost—and burning passion for the Oscars, an event he begged to host in the three years prior to his White House run, it seems Trump’s anger primarily stems not from the Academy’s choice of winner but his exclusion from this glamorous soiree, and the Hollywood limelight.

Errol Morris summed it up best: “There are certain people that I think suffer—I wanted to have this in some psychiatric dictionary—from ‘irony deficit disorder’: the absolute inability to see irony when it’s really stuck right in front of your face. Donald Trump suffers from irony deficit disorder.”

Celebrities rally to send Quaden Bayles to Disneyland after bullying video goes viral - CNN

His mother, Yarraka Bayles, from the Australian state of Queensland, posted the heartbreaking Facebook Live video this week to raise awareness of the impact of bullying. In the video, she said her son had previously attempted suicide.
"This is what bullying does," she said in the video. "Can you please educate your children, your families, your friends?"
Yet what began as a plea has quickly become a movement. The video has been viewed 16 million times since it was posted on Tuesday, with Bayles receiving a massive outpouring of support from around the world, according to CNN affiliate Seven News.
Among them is Australian actor Hugh Jackman, who posted a video message to Twitter telling Bayles: "No matter what, you've got a friend in me."
"Quaden, you are stronger than you know, mate," Jackman said. "Everyone, let's just please be kind to each other. Bullying is not OK, period."
A Go-Fund Me page set up by US comedian Brad Williams has raised almost $170,000 -- and he's using the money to send Bayles and his mother to Disneyland in California.
"This isn't just for Quaden, this is for anyone who has been bullied in their lives and told they weren't good enough," Williams said on the fundraising page. "Let's show Quaden and others that there is good in the world and they are worthy of it."
Bayles, who was born with a condition called achondroplasia dwarfism, is the face of Stand Tall 4 Dwarfism, a charity set up by his mother to raise awareness and stop bullying, according to Seven News.
He has reportedly undergone multiple operations and has been bulled in the past.
Williams, who also lives with achondroplasia, said on Twitter that he was "speechless" with the amount of donations received, which included air tickets for Bayles and his mom to go to Disneyland.
Bayles also has the support of the National Rugby League's Indigenous All-Stars team. The youngster will lead the team out before Saturday's NRL pre-season match against the Maori All-Stars in Queensland's Gold Coast,
"Just want to wish you all the best brother. We know you're going through a hard time right now but the boys are here, we've got your back. We're here to support you, bud," Indigenous All-Stars fullback Latrell Mitchell said.
