Trump impeachment inquiry, Taylor Swift drops new Christmas song, St. Nicholas Day: 5 things to know Friday - USA TODAY

Will President Trump participate in the House impeachment inquiry?

House Democrats have given President Donald Trump a Friday deadline to decide whether he wants to send lawyers or other representatives to participate in impeachment inquiry hearings. The White House has called the inquiry partisan and biased and declined to participate in Wednesday's hearing with four law scholars and college professors. But Trump has until 5 p.m. EDT on Dec. 6 to decide whether to take part in the process at all. Republicans hold a 53 to 47 majority in the Senate, so Trump doesn't expect the necessary two-thirds majority will vote to remove him. Over the past two months, House Democrats have led an impeachment inquiry into allegations Trump used the power of his office to pressure Ukraine to investigate one of his political rivals.

Kerry endorses Biden, will join former vice president in Iowa on trail

I Joe Biden's campaign announced that ex-Secretary of State John Kerry will travel to Iowa on Friday to join the former vice president on his "No Malarkey" bus tour.  The announcement comes after Kerry said he is endorsing Biden for his 2020 White House bid. Meanwhile, Biden hit a bit of a bump in the road while on his tour Thursday as he lashed out at a voter at an event, calling him "a damn liar" for accusing him of "selling access" to the presidency in Ukraine. Biden said he didn't want to argue with the attendee, but the two continued to talk over each other. Both Biden and Kerry will campaign in New Hampshire this weekend as well.

Authorities investigate deadly Black Hawk helicopter crash

Investigators are expected to arrive in Minnesota on Friday after a Black Hawk helicopter carrying three crew members crashed south of St. Cloud, Minnesota.According to emergency scanner traffic, the helicopter took off from St. Cloud and called mayday about nine minutes after takeoff. Sky conditions at the time the helicopter took off were clear with 10-mile visibility, according to the National Weather Service's observations at St. Cloud Regional Airport. "We do not have contact with the helicopter but we do not quite yet know what the situation is," Minnesota National Guard Master Sgt. Taylor Swift releases Christmas song and video 'made from home videos'

Get excited, Swifties — Taylor Swift released a brand-new Christmas song and video at midnight EDT on Friday called "Christmas Tree Farm." It's a nostalgic ditty, about days past when Christmas was much simpler (and less stressful) and features several home videos from when the singer was young. Swift didn't give fans much lead time either as the singer, 29, announced on social media Thursday, "I've just written a Christmas song. I feel like it's weird to just, like, wait a year to put it out? I don't have anyone to ask right now except for..." Swift said in the video clip before turning the camera onto her cat, Meredith. During a segment on Thursday's "Good Morning America," host Lara Spencer said Swift wrote the song over the weekend, "turning it around in record time." "GMA"will air the video during Friday's show.

Did you get a visit from St. Nick?

For most Americans, Dec. 6 is just another winter day. But some — especially in the Midwest — will be checking their stockings to see what St. Nick has brought them as they celebrate St. Nicholas Day. The tradition originated as the feast day of St. Nicholas in the Catholic Church and is still widely celebrated in Europe. Traditions vary, but many mark the day by leaving shoes or stockings for St. Nick to fill with treats such as oranges, chocolate coins and candy canes. In the U.S., the holiday is most prevalent in cities with strong German roots. "It's definitely a Midwest thing," Heather Grams told the Milwaukee Journal.

Camila Cabello Drops New Album 'Romance' and Fans Give Their Reviews After Singer Says She's 'Dying to Know' - Yahoo Entertainment

The singer dropped her long-awaited album on Thursday and fans can't get enough.

Camila Cabello's hotly anticipated new album,Romance, dropped Thursday, and it's stirring up some strong emotions with her fans.

The songstress teased the release Thursday afternoon, while at the same time suggesting a great way to listen to her new music.

"Who’s gonna listen to #ROMANCE with a glass of wine in the tub at midnight tonight?" Cabello captioned some album art showing her sitting on top of a retro TV in a white shirt, a tie, no pants and black knee-high boots.

The singer then shared a very trippy, psychedelic minute-long short film that served as a surrealist invitation to the "world of Romance."

"Do you dare to lose yourself in love? Do you dare to lose yourself in the exquisite agony of it? The desperation, the madness, the urgency, the passion, the ecstasy? An invitation like this is not for the faint of heart," the lengthy caption read in part. "All that’s left to do is surrender. I know what you’re thinking. 'Surrender? That’s it? That’s all I can do now?' Believe me, I know. How deliciously terrifying, how irresistibly maddening.............. Can you feel your heart in your throat? Have the butterflies in your stomach turned into roaring lions? If yes, then you know you’ve arrived. Welcome to the world of Romance."

After having truly amped up her fans with all the build up, the album finally dropped at midnight (East Coast time) and Cabello invited fans to share how they feel about the new album.

"Romance is finally out. this is all yours now. please tell me everything you think, I’m dying to know 😫" she wrote alongside a post of the album cover.

As it so happens, her fans were more than willing to tell her what they felt, and what they felt was all of the emotions in the world, apparently.

"Your album is too powerful and im so weak , I honestly can’t stop crying," one user tweeted.

"CAMILA, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR WORKING ALL THIS TIME TO GIVE US SUCH A BEAUTIFUL ALBUM, FULL OF FEELINGS AND PERSONAL MUSICS," another fan shared. "I LOVE YOU SO MUCH AND I'M IN LOVE WITH ROMANCE."

Boarding Group Needed to Ride Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance on... - wdwnt.com

This post may contain affiliate links; please read the disclosure for more information.

If you plan on going out to experience it, no matter if you’re partial to the Light side or the Dark side, entering a virtual queue is required to help reduce your time in line. This will give you more time to enjoy the rest of the theme park.

For those going to Disney’s Hollywood Studios today, the first step is to make sure you download the My Disney Experience app if you don’t already have it. Once you enter the park, open the Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge section and go to “Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance – Access by Boarding Group.” Click on “Find Out More.” The next screen will share the current boarding status of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance. If boarding groups are available, you may be able to tap “Join Boarding Group.” There will also be a display indicating which boarding group may now enter the attraction.

Additional information about virtual queue:

  • If “Join a Boarding Group” is grayed out, that means the boarding groups are full for the day and are no longer available.
  • As long as your My Disney Experience account is linked to park tickets for you and the others in your group, you’ll be able to enroll everyone in the virtual queue at the same time.
  • Make sure push notifications are turned on for My Disney Experience so you will be alerted if your boarding group is called to return.
  • You’ll have up to two hours from the time of the alert to go to the entrance of Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, so there’s no need to rush right over. Once there, you can expect to wait and spend some time getting immersed in the story and soaking in the rich details before experiencing the attraction.
  • Please note that joining a boarding group does not guarantee the ability to experience Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance.

If you have any questions or need a hand with the virtual queue, the members of the Guest Experience Team are available throughout the park to assist.

Justin Timberlake Shares Statement Apologizing For Holding Alisha Wainwright’s Hand - Stereogum

A couple of weeks ago, Justin Timberlake, who has been married to actress Jessica Biel since 2012, was photographed at a bar in New Orleans holding hands with Alisha Wainwright, his costar in the upcoming movie Palmer. And now, he’s gone all Notes app on us, issuing a statement on Instagram apologizing to his wife and family while clarifying that nothing unseemly actually happened.

“A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar,” Timberlake wrote. “I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. I should have known better. This is not the example I want to set for my son. I apologize to my amazing wife and family for putting them through such an embarrassing situation, and I am focused on being the best husband and father I can be.”

A “source with direct knowledge of the incident” recently told People that Timberlake and Wainwright’s interactions were “completely innocent…It’s a balcony with a group of people and it was definitely nothing happening. He’s down there shooting Palmer, they’re starring in the movie together and they’re cool and everybody was just hanging out.”

Read Timberlake’s full statement below. According to our fearless leader and Justin Timberlake apology connoisseur Scott Lapatine, this is one of the great Timberlake apologies — better than his apology for commenting on Jesse Williams’ BET Awards speech, but not as good as his apology for using Take Back The Night as a song title.

I stay away from gossip as much as I can, but for my family I feel it is important to address recent rumors that are hurting the people I love.

A few weeks ago I displayed a strong lapse in judgment — but let me be clear — nothing happened between me and my costar. I drank way too much that night and I regret my behavior. Taylor Swift Documentary 'Miss Americana' to Open Sundance Film Festival - Billboard

Taylor Swift is ready to give people a glimpse into her life in her upcoming Netflix original documentary Taylor Swift: Miss Americana, set to debut at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23, 2020, the streaming service announced Wednesday.

The new doc, directed by Emmy winner Lana Wilson and produced by Academy Award winner Morgan Nevill, is described as a "raw and emotionally revealing look at one of the most iconic artists of our time." Throughout the documentary, the audience will get an inside look at the singer's "transformational period in her life as she learns to embrace her role not only as a songwriter and performer, but as a woman harnessing the full power of her voice."

Academy Award winner Morgan Neville (Won’t You Be My Neighbor?), Academy Award winner Caitrin Rogers (20 Feet From Stardom, The Music of Strangers), and Christine O’Malley (Wordplay, I.O.U.S.A.) will serve as producers. The documentary is a Tremolo Production.

News of the documentary arrives weeks after Swift spoke out against Big Machine Label Group founder Scott Borchetta and Scooter Braun, alleging that they declined the use of her older music and performance footage for the Netflix documentary, a project that had yet to be announced at the time. "There is no mention of either of them or Big Machine Records anywhere in the film," Swift noted at the time. She had also added that Braun and Borchetta had both refused to allow her to perform her catalog of songs for her performance at the American Music Awards where she received the Artist of the Decade Award.

Taking to Twitter last month to explain "what's been going on," Swift revealed that she originally planned to perform a medley of her hits onstage, but Borchetta and Braun "claim that would be re-recording my music before I'm allowed to next year."

Swift then shared that Borchetta informed her team that she can use her music only if she agrees to their conditions, which include that she may "not re-record copycat versions" of her songs next year and to "stop talking about him and Scooter Braun." Though the singer's ex-record label offered a licensing deal, granting Swift permission to perform her catalog onstage, the circumstances surrounding the usage of her music in the upcoming documentary continue to remain unknown.

Swift made a subtle reference to the recent drama while opening her AMA's performance by singing "The Man." Seemingly making a statement, the singer dressed in a white outfit that featured the names of her six previous studio albums in black block lettering — replicating that of a prison uniform and font. Swift was then joined by young girls donning the same white outfit with her album titles while dancing alongside her. Swift continued her performance by singing her hit songs, "Love Story," "I Knew You Were Trouble," "Blank Space," "Shake it Off" and "Lover."

Despite the drama surrounding her catalog of music, Swift has had quite the successful year. The singer released her seventh album, Lover in August — the album features a song titled "Miss Americana and the Heartbreak Prince," similar to the title of the Netflix documentary — was recently named one of People Magazine's People of the Year and is set to star in the upcoming film adaptation of the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical, Cats, set to hit theaters Dec. 20.

The singer is recognized as one of the most successful female artists after debuting as a country music singer at the age of 15 before transitioning to the pop genre. Known for being notoriously private — the singer has been quietly dating The Favourite actor Joe Alwyn for three years — the documentary will mark the first time the singer will offer an inside glimpse into her life, which she hinted during her AMA's acceptance speech has been rather difficult in the past year.

"The last year of my life has had some of the most amazing times and also some of the hardest things I've gone through in my life. Not a lot of them are things that haven't been public," Swift said during her third acceptance speech of the night.

The documentary will also arrive shortly after the singer's 30th birthday on Dec. 13.

Taylor Swift: Miss Americana will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival on Jan. 23, 2020 and will be released globally on Netflix early next year. The documentary joins a female-powered lineup for the festival, announced Wednesday.
