A source just shared that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth's families want the couple to "take some time to breathe" before they make any permanent decisions about their relationship.
While we were all just minding our own business last weekend and trying to enjoy the remainder of summer, Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth went ahead and dropped a bomb on everyone by announcing that they had split after less than a year of marriage.
An insider recently told E!, "Their families have urged them to take some time to breathe before they make any final decisions. They are both upset about how this has blown up and are both hurting right now."

Taylor Swift and Miley Cyrus are Nashville prodigies who walked away from the flock in search of a larger platform, and although their destinations have differed greatly, their paths are not without parallels. Both stars sought freedom of expression in hip-hop, and both succeeded at the cost of arousing the suspicion of the community. Cyrus’s Bangerz scored hits but raised hackles for the speed at which it coopted and later dramatically abandoned southern strip-club culture. Swift’s Reputation took up hip-hop values like a sword and shield in the wake of a storm of negative press; she recently told Vogue that the album was an act of embodying the character she felt the public had foisted on her during a tiff with Kanye West, and has since eased off the cheerful depravity of “Look What You Made Me Do” and “I Did Something Bad.” The previews of Swift’s forthcoming Lover are all positive vibes. Cyrus has walked back some criticism of hip-hop’s political and lyrical content while gearing up to return to pop on this year’s She Is Miley Cyrus. Cyrus and Swift both released new songs today that filter their country lineage through the prism of their growth in the years since.
Swift’s “Lover” is the turn in a string of singles geared toward making the listening audience feel better about itself. “Me!” and “You Need to Calm Down” are empowerment anthems of a sort, the former in its proud affirmations and the latter in its tired dismissal of people who spend too much time trying to bring others down. “Calm Down” was Swift’s power play as a queer ally; the video was a Who’s Who of LGBTQ luminaries from Olympian Adam Rippon to pop’s “Lesbian Jesus” Hayley Kiyoko to actress Laverne Cox to the cast of RuPaul’s Drag Race. (The single was well-received, though reservations about the singer contributing to the commercialization of Pride linger.) “Lover” is the ideological inverse, a song about shutting out the world and shacking up with a significant other one assumes to be her boyfriend of three years, Joe Alwyn, presumably for the long run. It’s the quietest music to come out of her collaboration with pop producer Jack Antonoff since Reputation’s closing piano ballad “New Year’s Day.” The smoky low end is reminiscent of ’90s country and country-adjacent gems like the Cowboy Junkies cover of Lou Reed’s “Sweet Jane,” or Mazzy Star’s “Fade Into You,” but in burying pretty piano and guitar notes under a hokey walking bass line in the interest of effecting a slow build, “Lover” doesn’t take flight until the last chorus.
Cyrus’s “Slide Away” manages to feel quiet and intimate without any flatness. Producers Mike WiLL Made-It and Andrew Wyatt mix hip-hop drums, warm guitars, sweeping strings, and layered samples as Cyrus eulogizes her marriage to actor Liam Hemsworth, a split made public mere days ago as rumors swirl that the singer is seeing reality star and blogger Kaitlynn Carter (after her split from The Hills’ Brody Jenner). “Slide Away” isn’t vindictive or tabloid-y. It’s just about knowing when to cut your losses and move on. The music suits Cyrus’s voice, pushing her without overwhelming her. The mix doesn’t sound like anything else from this decade; this is the kind of record the gifted British singer-songwriters landed on at the end of the ’90s, when everyone started jet-setting around genres and playing with samples. It’s much more like Blur’s “Tender” or the Verve’s “Bittersweet Symphony” than anything on Bangerz, Dead Petz, or Younger Now. A fitting end to a ten-year period of wild swings and big changes would be for Cyrus to find sturdy middle ground between her jibing interests and make a record that sounds like all of her all at once. Time will tell.
“Lover” and “Slide Away” play like opposite sides of the same coin. Taylor Swift shot out of Nashville to become pop music’s picture of chipper Americana, and after a bit of turbulence, she seems to want nothing more than a quiet place to retreat to when the rigors of life in public get her down. Miley Cyrus ping-ponged between running from the normie life and leaning way into it, partying with rappers and psych-rock bands and then disappearing into married life. She seems to want a life less ordinary … but not too out of the ordinary. If there’s anything to be gleaned from these singers’ divergent walks, and the ease in their voices as their music briefly revisits the factory default setting, it’s that there’s no stress-proof way to live in the public eye, but when you do get tired, you can always come back home.
Kaitlynn Carter faced the public for the first time since her Italian rendezvous with Miley Cyrus and her smirk said it all ... she's loving the attention.
Brody Jenner's ex and her entourage rolled into The Grove Thursday for an appearance on Whitney Port's live podcast. 'The Hills' star and Kaitlynn covered tons of things but they DID NOT talk about what everyone wants to hear ... Miley and Kaitlynn's hookup.

As we reported ... she spent a helluva weekend in Europe with Miley. They hugged and kissed for the world to see on the same weekend she and Liam Hemsworth announced they were splitting.
They returned to L.A. looking a little spent but their sudden hookup has others scoffing.

Brody's friend and costar, Brandon Thomas Lee, doubled down and told us Thursday night while leaving The Nice Guy ... he thinks Miley and Kaitlynn contrived their makeout sesh to get attention. Earlier this week, he said it's obvious they're just trying to mess with their exes.
As you know by now, Brandon chimed in once Miley and Kaitlynn's pics surfaced and joked with Brody, who came back with his own take. Miley got the last jab in the thread, telling Brody to go take a nap in his truck.
Less than a week later, seems everyone's moved on -- Brody's now hanging with Josie Canseco ... while Miley and Kaitlynn are still hanging out.
As we reported, Miley dropped a new single, "Slide Away," which reflects the real-life struggles of her failed marriage, at least from her perspective. Speaking of failed relationships ... Kaitlynn actually talked about her breakup with Brody on the podcast.
I'm sure you've heard by now that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are no longer.
The couple announced the news on Sunday via a representative for Miley, who said both parties had decided to separate in order to focus on "themselves and careers".
But things got messy when, a few hours later, Miley was spotted apparently kissing Brody Jenner's ex-wife, Kaitlynn Carter, on a boat while on holiday in Italy.
Then, on Friday, Miley surprised fans by dropping a new song called "Slide Away" that very much seems like it's referencing her breakup with Liam.
The song's chorus uses imagery of the ocean to describe a breakup, saying Miley's love will slide away "back to the ocean" while she returns to the "city lights".
And fans are comparing it to the lyrics of her song "Malibu" which, in Miley's own words, was about her "refalling" for Liam after their first breakup, and spoke about them walking by the ocean together.
Fans have also pointed out that the couple met on the set of The Last Song, which was filmed on the beach.
And the song also repeats the line "move on, we're not 17" — which is around how old Miley was when they met and started their relationship in 2009.
It's safe to say fans are emotional about the track, and see this as a definitive end to a long story.

The year 2020 could potentially be huge for Meghan Markle, Kate Middleton, and all fans of the ever-growing royal family. Buzz has been intensifying around the rumors that the royals could welcome not one, but two royal babies by the end of 2020. And, the odds are better than you might think.
Adding fuel to the fire are Prince Harry’s recent comments about the number of children he wants to have. Even though nothing has yet been announced, odds are good that within the next few months, there could be some very happy announcements from Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton.
Kate Middleton could have another baby soon
Prince William and his wife of eight years, Kate Middleton, are the parents of three adorable children: Prince George, born in July 2013, Princess Charlotte, born in May 2015, and Prince Louis, born in April 2018. The couple clearly love being parents and are actively involved in their children’s lives. Prince William and Kate Middleton are often photographed holding and cuddling their children, and many experts have compared their affectionate parenting style to that of Prince William’s mother, Princess Diana.
There has been speculation in recent months the couple could be ready for baby number four. One source claims Prince William really wants to have four children in total, just like his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II. Even though Kate Middleton suffered from severe morning sickness, known as hyperemesis gravidarum, with all of her children, and spent much of her early pregnancy in hospital or bed rest, it seems as though she could be ready for one more baby to complete their family. Since they already have two boys, they could possibly be hoping for one more daughter, a younger sister for Princess Charlotte.
Prince Harry reveals second baby plans
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just welcomed their son, Archie Harrison, in May 2018, but they probably won’t wait much longer to give their young son a new sibling. There are several factors that could contribute to the royal couple wanting to have another child quickly – first, Meghan Markle’s age. She is 38 years old, which is considered to be an advanced maternal age. Waiting too much longer to get pregnant could leave her more susceptible to genetic problems and complications during pregnancy.
In addition, Prince Harry recently spoke out and said that he and Meghan Markle want “no more than two children” due to environmental concerns. Still, Markle did just have a baby less than a year ago, and many experts have stated that in order to give the body proper time to heal after childbirth, it is best to wait a total of 18 months in between pregnancies. Even though Meghan Markle does seem to be in great health, she might decide to wait a bit longer for the sake of a full recovery before trying to give Archie Harrison a baby brother or sister.
The palace won’t reveal baby news early
The public is seemingly in agreement with the idea of two more royal babies in 2020. A brand-new report states that bookies in England have the odds of both Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle giving birth sometime next year at 3/1 odds.
Whether the predictions end up coming true, it’s unlikely the palace will reveal anything until either Meghan Markle or Kate Middleton are several months along. Historically, they prefer to wait until the most dangerous time of pregnancy has passed, and that is around the 12-week mark. Royal fans should stay tuned to see if either Middleton or Markle appear in public with a baby bump anytime soon!
Amazon’s latest marketing campaign for the Prime Video series The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel has not gone as planned, with the Santa Monica Police briefly shutting down a 30-cents-per-gallon promotion for gas due to traffic delays caused by eager customers, according to ABC 7 reporter John Gregory. The promotion has since resumed, with Amazon now working with the city to limit the number of cars in line to keep traffic running.
The absurdly cheap gas promotion was part of “Maisel Day,” a marketing campaign from Amazon as part of its attempt to highlight the show (and its 20 Emmy nominations) ahead of the awards ceremony next month. The online retailer partnered with local Santa Monica businesses to roll back prices on things like gasoline, hotel rooms, movie tickets, milkshakes, and more to what they would have cost in 1959, when the show is set — hence, the ultra-cheap gas.
Unfortunately, it seems that the allure of filling up a tank at 30 cents a gallon was just too much for the motorists of Santa Monica — police have issued traffic warnings recommending locals avoid the area, and apparently shut down the promotion at one point due to the disruption it caused, although its since resumed. Presumably, a few of the other LA-based promotions for Maisel Day, like 30-cent hot dogs at iconic Hollywood stand Pink’s and 51-cent movie tickets at the Bay Theatre, didn’t force law enforcement to get involved.
It’s not the first time Amazon has offered 1950s-era pricing to promote the show, either. The company teamed up with the Carnegie Deli to offer discounted sandwiches in New York ahead of the season 2 premiere last winter. But that promotion went far smoother — presumably because people crowding a deli isn’t as disruptive as accidentally shutting down an entire intersection full of cars.
Update August 15th, 3:41pm: Amazon has since resumed the promotion with a more organized line for the discounted gas.
