NEW YORK (AP) — Meek Mill is in a Jay-Z state of mind: The Philadelphia rapper-turned-entrepreneur is launching a new record label in a joint venture with Jay-Z's Roc Nation.

The two hip-hop players celebrated the launch of Dream Chasers Records on Tuesday at the Roc Nation headquarters in New York City, signing contracts at a small press conference and popping champagne to celebrate the partnership.

"Of course I had offers to do a lot of business with other people, but the relationship we've built from (Roc Nation) believing in me through my whole career, through my ups and downs and the morals they showed to me and my team when it wasn't in their best interest to have showed it — I feel comfortable going through this right here at home," Mill said. "We're ready to work. We're just starting the beginning of a new chapter, a new page."

Mill, 32, will lead Dream Chasers as president, overseeing the label and its staff.

Mill built a strong fan base and buzz in Philadelphia with a string of mixtapes, and reached the mainstream when he topped the charts with his major-label debut in 2012. He's released two platinum albums and two gold records and reached the Top 25 of the pop charts with songs like "Going Bad" and "All Eyes on You." He even beat out Drake, Kendrick Lamar and Dr. Dre to win top rap album at the 2016 Billboard Music Awards.

Jay-Z, hip-hop's ultimate businessman, said he and Mill not only bonded musically, but in other areas.

"His integrity, his honesty, his sense of responsibility," Jay-Z rattled on about Mill. "Everything that he's done leading up to this point, it showed that he can carry that weight for the next generation of people. Everybody can sign some artists, make some money and brag about how hot they are for ... (but) for us, we look at the big picture. For us, it's way beyond signing hot artists and having a hot record."

Jay-Z, Mill and others joined forces earlier this year to form a coalition that lobbies for changes to state probation and parole laws, called the Reform Alliance. Mill became a symbol for criminal justice reform activists after a judge in Pennsylvania sentenced him to two to four years in prison for minor violations of his probation conditions in a decade-old gun and drug possession case. He spent months in prison before a court ordered him released.

"We come from the same neighborhoods, been through the same things," said Jay-Z, who grew up in the Marcy Projects complex in Brooklyn. "We're some of the few that made it through ... (and) that responsibility is not lost on us. We haven't made it to this point just to be like, 'Let's just irresponsibly live our life.' We had fun, don't get me wrong. It's fun too, but there's a responsibility that we carry for the entire culture."

Mill added: "Me coming out of prison this time, I signed up for a bigger responsibility. I always felt like I had a responsibility to lead the culture as much as I can. I always say Jay-Z and others that came before me was like a snowplow for people like myself. They made it easier to walk through the snowstorm. I want to continue to be a snowplow for the next generation coming behind me."

For his new label, Mill said he hopes to sign hard-working artists looking to move the needle, "not a social media success for the weekend or for the month."

The rapper will launch his Legendary Nights Tour on Aug. 28 with Future and will release a five-episode documentary series on Aug. 9 on Amazon Prime Video called "Free Meek," which follows his fight for exoneration in his legal case and his work with the Reform Alliance.

Mill recently announced he's now a co-owner of sports-apparel retailer Lids, and will lead the company's creative strategy and release a limited-edition collection of hats.

Jay-Z said Mill will be a success in whatever he tries.

"I know he can make music. We've seen that. We've heard the music. I think he cannot only make music, he can make stars. Not only can he make stars, he can make film. He can do anything he wants," he said.

"What we lacked for so long was opportunity," Jay-Z continued. "We've never had this sort of power. We never had someone come before us and then come back and show us, 'Yo, this is how it's done. These are the mistakes that I made.' We've never had it. It just hadn't existed. Hip-hop is 40 years old (and) we've just now gotten to the point where we can really affect change and the music and the culture that we create. We've been giving it away for so long, which is understandable, we got to start somewhere. Got to clean the floors up before you own the building — but we don't shine shoes anymore."

High-flying acrobatic group sends Dwayne Wade's blood pressure skyrocketing on 'AGT' - AOL

Guest judge Dwayne Wade used his Golden Buzzer to send V Unbeatable to the finals of America’s Got Talent. The future hall of fame NBA star was blown away by the harrowing acrobatic dance group from Mumbai, India.

The group, which is comprised of 29 young teenagers and adults, performed an extremely dangerous high-flying dance routine. They actually all wear the name of a former comrade who tragically died after falling during a routine. The young man’s name was Vikas, and a group spokesman said, “His dream was to be on this stage like this, so yes, we are doing all this for him.”

Camille Grammer Suffers Wardrobe Malfunction On ‘RHOBH’: Dress Falls Off During Reunion - Hollywood Life

Have you ever been so mad, you accidentally ripped off your dress? Camille Grammer did just that as she stormed off the ‘RHOBH’ reunion, right after accusing Andy Cohen and her co-stars of creating ‘a setup.’

Camille Grammer, 50, couldn’t even wait until reaching the dressing room to tear off her mic — and her dress along with it — during the Season 9 reunion of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Before Camille gave Bravo viewers a sneak peek at her underwear [AS YOU CAN WATCH HERE], she felt especially cornered by her co-stars as part two of the reunion reached an emotional climax on July 23. For a brief recap, Camille claimed that she only invited the cast to her Hawaii wedding in Oct. 2018 because of “production,” called Dorit Kemsley the “phoniest person” she’s ever met, and accused her co-stars of wanting her to jump on the Lisa Vanderpump “hate train.” While the ladies defended themselves, Denise Richards, 48, wanted to know why Camille was so ticked off.

“Camille, what’s wrong with you? Honest to god, you need to go take a second because this is not good,” Denise told Camille. Andy Cohen then referenced Camille’s gossipy lunch with Denise from earlier in the season, as he asked Denise, “When you were sitting there at lunch with Camille and she was trash talking everyone, what was going through your mind?” Denise began to say she was “really uncomfortable” during her one-on-one lunch with Camille, but she couldn’t finish that thought.

“This is truly a setup,” Camille said, repeating, “This is truly a setup. I’m done.” And with that, Camille left the couch and attempted to yank off her mic, an effort that undid her dress’s zipper as well. The wardrobe malfunction didn’t faze Camille as she proceeded to march through the cameras backstage, dress falling, to the bewilderment of everyone. While Andy wanted to know what exactly was “the setup,” Denise calmly remarked, “She’s f***ing nuts.”

Camille provided viewers with her own commentary during her diva moment — you know, since the dress came off instead of the mic. “[Denise] did say that she cursed at her kids…she did say that…I’m not going through that bulls**t” with them,” Camille muttered, after Denise denied that she revealed to Camille that she curses at her daughters Sam, 15, Lola Rose, 14, and Eloise Joni, 8. Finally, Camille reached the dressing room where a production member saved the wardrobe malfunction from escalating even further. “Take this off. I’m leaving. Nasty b**ches,” Camille said, and that’s a wrap on part two of the reunion!

Meryl Streep Reportedly Has a Very Mary Louise Attitude Toward Directing Notes - Vulture

Photo: HBO

Meryl Streep was dropped on this Earth with the express purpose of teaching us how to act. She teaches us with her performances and she teaches us with her words. And even her peers could stand to learn a thing or two, specifically how to mind their own business. Meryl Streep’s co-star on Big Little Lies, Poorna Jagannathan, who played the embattled lawyer of Celeste (Nicole Kidman), told Vanity Fair that Streep would push back on acting notes she disagreed with. “Meryl wouldn’t entertain any comments that insinuated she was the villain,” Jagannathan said, but insisted that Streep wasn’t rude. The three-time Academy Award winner would simply reply “that’s not of your business.” Please just imagine watching Meryl Streep place that gold cross necklace in her mouth and replying “That’s not of your business” when you ask “Excuse me, what?” It’s a lesson directors and civilians alike should learn. Some things simply are not our business, but here’s a quick list of what is, what isn’t, and what, at the very least, should be.

  • Meryl Streep’s Mary Louise teeth: our business.
  • Why the bridge was featured so prominently in the BLL opening credits: apparently not our business.
  • The abundance of bangs this season: thankfully not our business.
  • Whether or not Abigail went to college: Not really our business, but we are invested in that plotline.
  • Amanda Arnold–Jean-Marc Vallée drama: absolutely our business. In fact, we would like to know more.
  • What happened to the ice-cream scene: our business as soon as we get our hands on the DVD extras.
  • Why that one woman kept a masturbation diary: Not. Our. Business.

Cole Sprouse And Lili Reinhart Have Reportedly Split After Two Years Of Dating - BuzzFeed

If you're a fan of Riverdale, the chances are you've followed the real-life relationship of its stars Cole Sprouse and Lili Reinhart ever since they made it pretty damn clear they were dating in 2018.

Getty Images

Rumours of their relationship began swirling in 2017 and while neither Cole nor Lili officially confirmed the reports, they did spend a lot of time appearing cosy at public events and gushing over each other on social media.

Kevin Winter / Getty Images

For example, when Cole's 26th birthday rolled around last August, Lili posted this photo of him with a caption referencing their "beautiful adventure" together.

And, a month later, Cole shared this photo of Lili to mark her 22nd birthday alongside a caption calling her his "love" and "muse".

It's safe to say that fans of the show absolutely loved the pair together.

However, today I have to be the bearer of bad news and inform you that Lili and Cole's relationship has reportedly come to an end.

Frazer Harrison / Getty Images

Us Weekly were the first to report the news, with multiple sources and numerous other outlets confirming the split.

Kevin Mazur / Getty Images

A source told E! News: "Lili and Cole broke up earlier this summer. The two are not living together this season." The source went on to say that the pair had been "intentionally keeping their distance from the other," but are on "much better terms" now that Riverdale is back in production.

Reports of the split come as a bit of a surprise considering the pair attended Comic-Con together on Sunday.

Frazer Harrison / Getty Images

However, it appears Lili may have actually dropped a savage hint about their breakup in the caption of this photo she posted after the event.

Alongside a photo of her sitting on a panel between Cole and KJ Apa, Lili wrote: "Please don’t put me between these two ever again."

Spokespersons for Cole and Lili have been contacted for confirmation of the split, and for further comment.

SYNOPSIS:

A faded television actor and his stunt double strive to achieve fame and success in the film industry during the final years of Hollywood’s Golden Age in 1969 Los Angeles.

Once-Upon-a-Time-in-Hollywood-2-600x399

In the spirit of subverting, by now, hotly anticipated expectations, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood is the least violent film masterful writer and director Quentin Tarantino has ever made. It’s also the funniest, standing tall as a full-blown dramedy (at least until the final 15 minutes). The misdirections don’t stop there, as the gifted filmmaker is somehow able to take widely known tragic history and keep the viewer in the dark on just where this freewheeling slice of celebrity life is actually going.

Considering the involvement of Sharon Tate and the Manson family, we know the destination in a sense, but none of the details. Accounting for this and just how much Tarantino does double down on some of his usual touches (the foot fetish is out of control here), it really does feel like he consumes what critics and moviegoers alike say about his movies; he probably doesn’t care too much about what they say, yet minor influences and acknowledgments exist. Tarantino’s take on Star Trek may have the green light for now, but if Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood does wind up being his last film, he’s proven that he has far more tricks up his sleeve than wanton violence. He’s not that old, but this aging dog can apparently still teach himself new tricks while adhering to the idiosyncrasies that catapulted his popularity and reputation to debatable greatest of all-time director status.

once-upon-a-time-in-hollywood-600x340

Leonardo DiCaprio and Brad Pitt portray late 1960s fictional characters Rick Dalton and Cliff Booth (although they are inspired by real people), the former being a fading Western television star desperately trying to break into the big picture business simultaneously fighting alcoholism. The latter is the stunt double, who has accepted his Hollywood career is over with far more grace than Rick, who is offered an alternative route into steady movie work by making Italian spaghetti Westerns, a genre that he views as beneath him. The best friends (in many ways, this is actually a touching story of friendship) find themselves living next door to Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate, bringing an ethereal presence to the real-life actress and spouse of hotshot director Roman Polanski (who would go on to be exiled from America for crimes of pedophilia, which, for those of you that don’t know, is something you should keep in mind while experiencing this).

ONCE-UPON-A-TIME-IN-HOLLYWOOD-Official-Trailer-HD-0-5-screenshot-2-600x352

The set-up sort of implies bloodshed is inevitable, and it is, but the one thing people need to understand before sitting down to watch Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood is that Tarantino has more on his brilliantly deranged mind than whipping up a bloodbath between history and his own character creations. These people are not consistently interacting with one another, but we do get juxtapositions of what Hollywood stardom means to them. Rick Dalton craves the spotlight, fame, accolades, and to not be perceived as the punching bag pretty much all of his upcoming roles are going to be. It’s not entirely a parallel, but it’s not out of the question to ascribe many of these traits to Leonardo DiCaprio, who basically damn near killed himself making The Revenant to finally win the Academy Award he so obviously badly desired. He’s also a method actor through and through, which is hilariously made a topic of discussion during an exchange with a child actor on the set of a TV western set. Not only is this banter funny, but it also ends with a line that is a harsh dosage of reality to swallow alongside its comedic impact.

once-upon-600x404

This is all contrasted by Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, who is worthy of a Supporting Actress nomination (to be fair, all of the major performances are awards-worthy) regardless of how minimal her dialogue and screen time is (less can be more), angelically living life with a free spirit. Whether she’s dancing to some music (surprising no one, the soundtrack is another pleasant anachronistic combination of popular and lesser-known songs) or sitting in a theater surrounded by average people to watch herself play a self-described klutz, she’s happy. She doesn’t even get offended if a noncelebrity doesn’t recognize her, whereas Rick Dalton wants to be known by everyone. It eats him up inside that he’s living next door to the director of Rosemary’s Baby, so close within reach of potentially making it as a Hollywood star yet so distant.

ONCE-UPON-A-TIME-IN-HOLLYWOOD-Clip-Cliff-Randy-and-Rick-0-6-screenshot-600x365

There’s also the usual experimental approach to the story, occasionally making fun detours so we can spend time with other characters. Cliff Booth and Bruce Lee get into a competitive brawl, the Playboy mansion bustles with energetic crowds and dazzling cinematography, car rides last longer than necessary so Tarantino can flaunt re-created landmarks and meticulously crafted production designs (and more classic tunes), one character is awkwardly given a controversial backstory that works better than it has any right to, and for a brief while the tone switches to something more sinister and unnerving down at the run down and trashy Manson cult infested ranch. Above all else, recently making a string of his own Westerns has left Tarantino with the urge to implement some of that here, as there are extended sequences (one or two might run along, although I understand that he is decidedly doing that to fully draw us into the segment so it doesn’t come across as something throwaway) of Rick Dalton filming Western television and even amusing cutaways to his failed movie career. Supposedly, Tarantino wrote entire episodes of everything that is fictional, so maybe one day he will make those if he really is done with movies.

Once-Upon-a-Time-in-HollywoodNYET519-813_2018_170511-600x404

No one knows what’s next for Tarantino, but if there was ever a perfect project to close a storied career on, Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood is that movie. Films about the entertainment industry are always enlightening, but this is what happens when someone obsessed with cinema tries his hand at it. The trademark conversational dialogue is as strong as ever, here containing lessons on filmmaking craft and even Tarantino himself patting himself on the back for his own work (one character enthusiastically says “I love that shot”). Still, the masses are here to see how all of this collides with the horrific Manson murders (which I assure you is treated with respect and will most likely only offend people that have no idea how to just sit back and enjoy a movie), and Tarantino is evidently  aware by craftily using a TV personality exclaiming “and now, for what you’ve all been waiting for” right before shit hits the fan. As already mentioned, it’s unquestionably the least violent Tarantino movie, but what’s here is gruesomely satisfying. For those that love cinema, well, considering the plot dealing with fading popularity and father time (not to mention the leading stars themselves opening up winding down and how acting is a young man’s game), this could be perceived as Tarantino’s swansong and him leaving behind a goldmine of knowledge for the next generation of filmmakers.

If they ever want to make a movie half as good as Tarantino has ever made, they will study Once Upon a Time … in Hollywood ears wide open and eagle-eyed.
