Bachelorette star sends contestant home after sex before marriage spat, feud spills into Twitter - Fox News
Sparks flew Monday night on the Fantasy Suites week episode of "The Bachelorette" between star Hannah Brown and Luke Parker.
It even spilled over into Twitter and Instagram.
But it was the sex talk that got the bachelor sent home. The born-again Christian drew ire earlier in the season when he told her he was saving sex for marriage and wanted her to do the same.
LUKE TAKES HANNAH TO CHURCH, SHARES WHEN GOD SPOKE TO HIM ON 'BACHELORETTE'
"The closest thing to love at first sight was probably with you," Brown admitted during Parker's final episode, and he thought the two were on the same page when it came to faith and family. But the 24-year-old, called "Luke P" on the show, quickly found out he had broken her heart with each episode leading up to the dramatic moment that left Brown flipping him off.
"Guess what? Sex might be a sin out of marriage, pride is a sin, too, and I feel like this is like a pride thing," Brown said. "I feel like I've finally gotten clarity on you and I do not want you to be my husband."
When Parker asked if he could have a minute, Brown told him she had sex in a windmill with contestant Peter Weber, not once, but twice: "I have had sex and, like, Jesus still loves me."
The Alabama native asked if he could pray for the Bachelorette star before he left. But she refused.
Brown told Entertainment Tonight it was her "powerplay moment" of the season.
But the feud didn't end there. The two got in a Twitter war over sin and a Christian response to it.
"The difference in how we view sin is seen in the response," Parker wrote. "I'm weeping at mine and you're laughing at yours. All sin stings. My heart hurts for both of us."
But Brown clapped back: "time and time again Jesus loved and ate with ‘sinners' who laughed. And time and time again he rebuked ‘saints' that judged. Where do you fall Luke? #TheBachelorette."
He shot back: "There is a difference between eating with sinners who laugh and sinners who laugh at their sin. Sin is the very thing that put Jesus on the cross and that's not a laughing matter."
Brown fired back, referencing an exchange Parker had with a contestant, Garrett Powell, who got kicked off: "I have never said that I find my sin funny. I'm not going to [be] lectured on appropriate emotional responses by a guy who threw deli meat in a guy's lap."
Then Parker went back to the windmill sexcapade.
“Your tweets about the windmill and the wood were enough, it’s not about the action it’s about the response. If you want to talk about it, you know how to get ahold of me,” Parker said, adding on Instagram that never meant to "judge or condemn Hannah."
"For me, it was never about getting a rose, it was always about finding a wife who would choose me everyday just as I would choose her everyday," Parker said, admitting "I made mistakes and no I'm not perfect (crazy right)...I did not represent Christ the way I thought I was prepared to and that has broken me."
He concluded: "My desire is to put the Father first above all things and share the truth that he has given to us all. Thank you everyone for the prayers always remember speak truth and rid yourself of all hate, let compassion drive your words. Stay tuned. #faithfuloverfamous."

"13 Reasons Why" suicide scene: Netflix deletes Hannah Baker death scene in Season 1 finale - CBS News
Netflix has removed a suicide scene from its popular show "13 Reasons Why," more than two years after it was first shown on the streaming platform. The scene shows the teen drama's main character, Hannah Baker, taking her own life in the Season 1 finale –– and it was met with strong backlash from suicide prevention advocates over its graphic nature. Researchers also found a troubling trend in the month after the show premiered.
Ahead of the Season 3 premiere, slated for later this summer, Netflix said in a statement Tuesday that the company wanted to be "mindful" about the ongoing debate around the show.
"We've heard from many young people that '13 Reasons Why' encouraged them to start conversations about difficult issues like depression and suicide and get help—often for the first time. So on the advice of medical experts... we've decided with creator Brian Yorkey and the producers of '13 Reasons Why' to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life from Season 1."
The controversial scene in the episode "Tape 7, Side A" showed Baker, played by actress Katherine Langford, contemplating her life in front of a mirror before sitting in a bathtub, where she takes a razor and cuts her skin. In the moments after, her breathing slows down and the tub is filled with blood. Her mother then walks in and finds her daughter dead.
In the updated version on Netflix, Baker looks at herself in the mirror before the scene cuts away to show her parents finding her lifeless body and embracing each other.
Brian Yorkey, the show's creator, explained his reasoning in creating the graphic scene, and why he ultimately decided along with Netflix to edit it out after hearing concerns from the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.
"Our creative intent in portraying the ugly, painful reality of suicide in such graphic detail in Season 1 was to tell the truth about the horror of such an act, and make sure no one would ever wish to emulate it," Yorkey said. "No one scene is more important than the life of the show, and its message that we must take better care of each other."
Several mental health organizations, including the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, supported Netflix's decision in a joint statement, saying: "There has been much debate about the series in the mental health community. But this positive change will ensure that '13 Reasons Why' continues to encourage open conversation about mental health and suicide prevention - while also mitigating the risk for the most vulnerable teenage viewers."
Research from earlier this year found a sharp increase in suicide rates among children and teens in the month after the show's release in March 2017. While the researchers said the study cannot prove that the television show is what caused the rise in suicide, they said the association is troubling.
For immediate help if you are in a crisis, call the toll-free National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255), which is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All calls are confidential.

Why Netflix cut '13 Reasons Why' suicide scene after years of controversy - New York Post
It’s took two years and millions of concerned parents to convince streaming giant Netflix to censor “13 Reasons Why,” a series about teenage suicide.
“We’ve heard from many young people that 13 Reasons Why encouraged them to start conversations about difficult issues like depression and suicide and get help — often for the first time,” says Netflix in a statement this week. “As we prepare to launch season three later this summer, we’ve been mindful about the ongoing debate around the show. So on the advice of medical experts, including Dr. Christine Moutier, chief medical officer at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, we’ve decided with creator Brian Yorkey and the producers to edit the scene in which Hannah takes her own life from season one.”
The uncut, almost 3-minute-long scene originally aired during the finale of the 13-episode series. In it, Hannah (Katherine Langford) is shown listless in her bathtub, crying and taking a razor blade to her wrist. Focusing on her face, the audience sees Hannah shrieking in pain and gasping for air before she’s shown slumping into the blood-red water. Finally, her mother (Kate Walsh) discovers her daughter’s lifeless body.
The beginning of the final episode warns viewers that it “may not be suitable for younger audiences” and includes “graphic depictions of violence and suicide.” The first season also featured a 30-minute PSA called “Beyond the Reasons” featuring the show’s actors and producers — including producer Selena Gomez — along with doctors and advocates discussing how to deal with suicidal thoughts.
Following the first season’s controversial run, many psychologists and suicide advocacy groups sounded the alarm over the series’ triggering content. Parents slammed the show for “romanticizing” suicide, some even grieving their own children — citing the show as inspiration for their suicides. Earlier this year, researchers released a report pointing to a rise in teen suicide following the show’s debut.
“We wanted to confront the fact that suicide is messy, ugly, and it’s incredibly painful. There’s nothing peaceful or beautiful about it at all. It’s horrific to endure and it’s horrific for the people that a person who commits suicide leaves behind,” Yorkey, the show’s creator and showrunner, told The Hollywood Reporter in 2017. “We wanted to tell that story truthfully. And as difficult as it is to watch, it should be difficult to watch. If we make it easy to watch, then we’re selling goods that we didn’t want to sell.”
The updated scene is far tamer, with Hannah taking a long look at herself in the mirror before cutting to her devastated parents, apparently just after having discovered their daughter’s death. All depictions of the act of suicide have been wiped.
In this week’s statement, Yorkey says they’d hoped the original scene would make it so “ugly [and] painful” that “no one would ever wish to emulate it,” but went on to admit they’d not been successful in their intention.
“As we ready to launch season three, we have heard concerns about the scene from Dr. Christine Moutier at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and others, and have agreed with Netflix to re-edit it. No one scene is more important than the life of the show and its message that we must take better care of each other. We believe this edit will help the show do the most good for the most people while mitigating any risk for especially vulnerable young viewers.”

Nipsey Hussle Was Secretly Under Investigation for Alleged Gang Activity - TMZ
Nipsey Hussle was praised by the LAPD as a peacemaker in the wake of his death -- a hero of sorts in his community for trying to stem gang violence -- but it turns out the very same police department was secretly investigating Nipsey for possible criminal prosecution for alleged gang activity.
The probe was centered around Nipsy's Marathon Clothing store in South L.A., as a possible hub for gang activity ... this according to The New York Times.
It's a stunning development, because the LAPD was both investigating Nipsey and embracing him at the same time. He was set to meet the LAPD Police Chief the day after her was murdered, to discuss gang violence.
What's more ... a few years before his death, the City of Los Angeles was trying to pressure Hussle's landlords to evict Nipsey from Marathon ... this according to The NYT. As it turned out, Nipsey bought the building with some investors.
Although the City can no longer prosecute Nipsey, the City continues to investigate Nipsey's business partners.
Nipsey was a member of the Rollin' 60s Crips back in the day, but disavowed gang life and worked heroically to stem gang violence and even worked with former gang members who got out of prison to help get them back up on their feet.
The outlet reports that city officials suspected the strip mall where his clothing store was located -- which Nipsey owned along with a bevy of investors -- was a hotbed for gang members, and that the exact type of violence that took the MC's life was rampant there.
You'll recall the LAPD Commissioner Steve Soboroff stood shoulder to shoulder with Mayor Eric Garcetti, Chief of Police Michel Moore and other L.A. City Offcials to discuss a planned summit Nipsey and them had coordinated to curb gang violence.
Soboroff publicly hailed Nipsey as a peacemaker.
