Taylor Swift 'ghosts' Scooter Braun, disagrees with Scott Borchetta on offers to buy back her masters: reports - Fox News

An attorney for Taylor Swift disputed reports that she had offers to buy back her masters from Big Machine founder Scott Borchetta.

“Scott Borchetta never gave Taylor Swift an opportunity to purchase her masters, or the label, outright with a check in the way he is now apparently doing for others,” Swift's lawyer, Donald Passman, told Page Six Tuesday.

On Sunday night, Swift, 29, posted a blistering blog slamming Borchetta for selling Big Machine, along with all six of her past albums' worth of masters, to Scooter Braun, whom she accused of "manipulative bullying" through his associations with former client Kanye West and West's wife, Kim Kardashian, who infamously recorded Swift and West's "snippet" of a phone call in which she appeared to give her blessing to the lyrics to his song "Famous."

"For years I asked, pleaded for a chance to own my work. "I walked away because I knew once I signed that contract, Scott Borchetta would sell the label, thereby selling me and my future. I had to make the excruciating choice to leave behind my past. Music I wrote on my bedroom floor and videos I dreamed up and paid for from the money I earned playing in bars, then clubs, then arenas, then stadiums."

She added, "Never in my worst nightmares did I imagine the buyer would be Scooter. Any time Scott Borchetta has heard the words 'Scooter Braun' escape my lips, it was when I was either crying or trying not to. He knew what he was doing; they both did. Controlling a woman who didn't want to be associated with them. In perpetuity. That means forever."

Swift also alleged that Borchetta never informed her of the deal and that she learned about it from the press.

Borchetta vehemently denied Swift's claims, writing on the Big Machine website that he and Swift "were working together on a new type of deal for our new streaming world" that wasn't determined by a number of albums, but a "length of time."

He also included a text he claims to have sent the singer the night before The Wall Street Journal published the first story about the new Big Machine deal. Swift's rep denied that she saw the text before the story went live.

Borchetta also published a portion of terms negotiated for her to purchase her masters, which she reportedly declined. "Taylor had every chance in the world to own not just her master recordings, but every video, photograph, everything associated to her career," he wrote. "She chose to leave." Sources told Variety that there were at least two offers to sell Swift her masters and that she declined both.

Borchetta said he and Swift were on good terms when she informed him she wanted to explore opportunities at other labels. She signed with Republic Records, a subsidiary of Universal Music Group, in November 2018; Borchetta alleged that Swift texted him, rather amicably, minutes before her new deal went public.

Braun, meanwhile, has yet to publicly comment on any of Swift's allegations, though his wife and some of his clients, including Demi Lovato and Justin Bieber, have defended him through social media. Sources told Page Six that the SchoolBoy Records founder attempted to reach out to Swift privately through mutual friends in hopes of a "mature conversation," but was "ghosted" by the "ME!" singer.

American rapper A$AP Rocky has been arrested for suspected assault in Sweden along with three other people over an incident that occurred on Sunday, Swedish officials have confirmed to CBS News. A Swedish Prosecution Office spokesman said the artist was arrested for suspected "gross assault," but would not provide any further details.

A$AP Rocky posted short video clips, purportedly showing the incident that led to his arrest, and a statement proclaiming his innocence to his Instagram channel.

The prosecution office spokesman said the relationships between the four people placed under arrest were not clear.

The videos show the rapper and a couple associates interacting with two young men who appeared to be arguing about a pair of headphones or a cellphone. A$AP Rocky claimed on Instagram that one of the men hit his bodyguard with a pair of headphones. The clips show little physical interaction between the young men, as A$AP Rocky and an associate repeatedly tell the other men to walk away and stop following them.

"So a few drug addicts are not my fans," he said on his Instagram account. "We don't know these guys and we didn't want trouble, they followed us for 4 blocks, and they were slapping girls butts who passed, give me a break."

A female, not seen in the video, can be heard telling the rapper that one of the other young men, "slapped my ass and my girlfriend's ass."

It was not clear what transpired before or after the videos were shot, but another video surfaced online which appears to show punches being thrown by members of A$AP Rocky's entourage at the two other men, one of whom ends up on the ground taking punches from at least three people.

The New York City-born rapper, who is also a music producer and model, was arrested on Tuesday after he performed at the Smash hip hop festival in Stockholm, Sweden.

A statement provided by the prosecutor's office on Wednesday said only that the investigation was still in "an initial stage" and thus no information about any evidence would be given.

Under Swedish law, he and the other suspects can be held for up to three days before they have to appear before a judge to face formal charges, but it might not take that long.

Lil Nas X had clearly been thinking about coming out as gay for a long time, and the best evidence of that is the cover of his debut album ... a cover that was in the works for weeks.

Lorenzo Sozzi, who designed the cover with the rapper, tells TMZ ... Lil Nas X had a vision of the art for the album -- the rapper leaving a dystopian world for a futuristic world -- so X actually put out an open call to artists to come up with his vision, and Sozzi is the one who nailed it.

Lil Nas had some edits, though, and sometime during the creative process ... he instructed Sozzi to add a rainbow flourish to one of the buildings on the album cover. Nas never told Sozzi why he wanted to add the rainbow, but he was adamant about it.

Now, here's what's really interesting ... Nas released the album cover art on June 15 -- 2 weeks ago, but he didn't come out until June 30. Looking back, it's clear, at the very least, the cover of X's "7" was a big clue he was gay, but he never explained further until his Glastonbury concert this past Sunday.

TMZ broke the story ... Nas was so moved by the crowd -- 180,000 strong -- showing him so much love, he went back stage, picked up his phone, and told the world he is gay.

The funny thing is ... when Nas came out he joked, "deadass thought i made it obvious" because of the rainbow -- yet no one picked up on it.

The rapper has posted videos he claims prove he was provoked by a man he was filmed allegedly throwing through the air.

Swedish police arrested A$AP Rocky late Tuesday night on suspicion of assault after a video emerged apparently showing the rapper throwing a man through the air.

The video was taken in central Stockholm on Sunday evening and apparently shows A$AP Rocky grabbing a man and tossing him several feet. The rapper performed Tuesday night at the Smash Festival in Stockholm.

After the video was published online, the rapper himself posted his own videos to his Instagram account, which purport to show the man in question following and repeatedly harassing him and his entourage.

In the A$AP Rocky videos, a pair of young men can be seen following him for several blocks, despite being repeatedly told by the rapper's bodyguard to leave.

Both the bodyguard and A$AP Rocky repeatedly tell the men they don't want to fight them. At one point, one of the men hits the bodyguard with a large set of headphones, which the bodyguard smashes on the ground.

“I'm innocent,” A$AP Rocky wrote.

News of the altercation was originally reported in Swedish media.

The Stockholm Prosecutor Office was initially unable to provide further information other than to say a request had been made for A$AP Rocky's arrest.

Within a blink of an eye, Priyanka Chopra went from engaged to married, and the actress is opening up about how her “extravagant” wedding to Nick Jonas came to be.

“We decided on the venue for our wedding in October and we got married on 1 December,” Chopra, 36, told Elle UK.

“We had one-and-a-half months to plan, so we were just like, ‘Yeah, yeah, yeah, let’s get it.’ And suddenly we were like, ‘Ohhh God.’ It was very extravagant,” she told the magazine.

“Hopefully, you just do it once,” Priyanka jokingly said to Elle UK. “So it’s fine.”

The couple tied the knot during a Western wedding in Chopra’s home country of India, PEOPLE confirmed. The nuptials, held at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur, Rajasthan, come just four months after the pair was engaged in July 2018.

Chopra was a glowing bride in a custom Ralph Lauren wedding gown, and the singer, 26, also wore Ralph Lauren. In fact, so did both families, all of the bridesmaids and all of the groomsmen (which included Chopra’s brother Siddharth and Jonas’ three brothers, Joe, Kevin and Frankie).

Since tying the knot, Chopra has found that married life is a lot different than dating.

“I’d never realized having a husband and a boyfriend are such different things. When you say your vows, it’s like this person is my family, and it’s the family I chose. There’s a weird responsibility to them. And a safety that comes from it,” Chopra explained to Elle UK.

“We are learning about each other every day,” she added.

Chopra is also thrilled to have two sisters now: Joe’s wife Sophie Turner and Kevin’s wife Danielle Jonas.

“I’ve never had a sister, so it’s really nice to have Danielle and Sophie,, and just inheriting the family by proxy. Sophie is super talented, super funny, and we have the most fun when we go out together. She’s incredible,” Chopra told Elle UK.
