When it comes to Beyoncé releases, there is usually an element of surprise.
The singer — who perfected the secret album drop in 2013, and has since toyed with the tactic for releases like “Lemonade” and “Everything Is Love,” with her husband Jay-Z — did it again in the early morning hours Wednesday, one-upping the arrival of her own Netflix documentary, “Homecoming,” with a previously unannounced live-album version of the same concert.
Both the film and the album, also titled “Homecoming,” capture Beyoncé’s performance at last year’s Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, in which the singer — the first black woman to headline the event — was backed by dozens of dancers and an elaborate marching band for a set that nodded to the musical legacy of historically black colleges.
“There’s not likely to be a more meaningful, absorbing, forceful and radical performance by an American musician this year, or any year soon,” the critic Jon Caramanica wrote of the show in The New York Times. “It was rich with history, potently political and visually grand. By turns uproarious, rowdy, and lush. A gobsmacking marvel of choreography and musical direction.”

Now, the concert — which was live-streamed at the time and recreated for Coachella’s second weekend, but has existed only in bootleg form since — has been preserved for history in multiple mediums. The documentary, a Netflix exclusive billed as “a film by Beyoncé,” features footage from rehearsals and quieter backstage moments — “the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement,” Netflix said.
The “Homecoming” album is a more straightforward recreation of the concert that became known as Beychella. It breaks the more than two-hour performance into 40 tracks, many of which are packed with multiple musical references and sections of other songs.
Beyoncé’s set list, which varied slightly over the two Coachella performances, included solo hits like “Get Me Bodied,” “Baby Boy” and “Formation,” the Destiny’s Child songs “Say My Name” and “Soldier” (with her former group mates Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams) and various interludes with titles here such as “So Much Damn Swag” and “The Bzzzz Drumline.” She also included a rendition of the hymn “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” a song often referred to as the black national anthem.
While some recent Beyoncé releases have been available, at least for a time, only on Tidal, the streaming service owned by Jay-Z, the live album was released across all major streaming platforms, including Apple Music, Spotify and Google Play.
Since Coachella, Beyoncé has been largely quiet professionally, though she toured with Jay-Z last summer, surprising fans with the nine-track collaborative effort “Everything Is Love” along the way. She has not announced a follow-up.
The anticipation for Beyonce’s “Homecoming” documentary is at a peak — but is Beyonce treating fans to a different surprise release this week?
Hints at a new album, possibly entitled “B7,” have surfaced online ahead of “Homecoming’s” Netflix debut on Wednesday. The lyrics website Genius shows the album listed under Beyonce’s discography, with an April 18 expected release date.
Some Twitter reports showed a track listing on the Genius site as well, but it has evidently been taken down or didn’t exist.
A screengrab from Genius’ website is below.

Whispers about a possible live performance album from her Coachella performance (the subject of the new documentary) were circulating after the trailer dropped last week. However, some fans are wildly speculating that this could be entirely new. Reminder: this is all speculation, but it’s fun to see the Beyhive get revved up for yet another surprise drop from their queen.
Beyonce, while known for the 2013 unannounced drop of her self-titled album, is also known for planning every step of her career down to the last detail. That makes reports of an album leak a bit suspect.
At any rate, fans can at least be certain they’ll have “Homecoming” to look forward to.
“‘Homecoming’ presents an intimate look at Beyoncé’s historic 2018 Coachella performance that paid homage to America’s historically black colleges and universities,” the release announcing “Homecoming” read. “Interspersed with candid footage and interviews detailing the preparation and powerful intent behind her vision, Homecoming traces the emotional road from creative concept to cultural movement.”

It’s a week of goodbyes for Kevin Hunter.
Wendy Williams‘ estranged husband has served as an executive producer on “The Wendy Williams” show since it launched in 2008, but after his marriage fell apart last week, a source close to the show told Page Six that he’s now negotiating an exit package.
Neither a rep for the show nor its production company, Debmar-Mercury, responded to Page Six’s requests for comment.
As Page Six exclusively reported, Williams filed for divorce from Hunter last week. She addressed the split on Monday’s episode of her eponymous talk show, with Hunter later releasing a statement himself on Tuesday morning, in which he vaguely referenced his alleged affair with Sharina Hudson.
“I have dedicated most of our lives to the business empire that is Wendy Williams Hunter, a person that I truly love and respect unconditionally. I am not proud of my recent actions and take full accountability and apologize to my wife, my family and her amazing fans.”

Bad news: the ending for Avengers: Endgame has leaked online. As a result, it might be a good idea to go on high alert and take the necessary actions to try and defend against spoilers. We recommend muting Avengers-related hashtags on Twitter and to be generally extra mindful of social media. If you can't stay offline for the next 10 days, and need any other tips to remain unspoiled, we've compiled a list of actions that you can take to give yourself a better chance of avoiding the spoilers.
Endgame hits cinemas in Australia on April 24 and comes to the United States on April 26, so the leak comes about 10 days before the film's release. Spoilers are always a concern, but the profile is higher with Endgame considering the dramatic conclusion to Infinity War where Thanos snapped his fingers and wiped out half of the galaxy.
In the time since the Endgame leak, the Marvel subreddit has gone on lockdown. The moderators have confirmed this is temporary, while they sift through posts and ensure that there's nothing that could ruin the experience for eager fans. "Spoilers are bad. We strive to keep this community spoiler-free, and due to recent events, we must take these measures to ensure that," reads a post on the subreddit. "Until we are more satisfied with our filter's ability to weed out the influx of new spoilers, all posts will be subject to approval. This shouldn't last too long. If your post is removed, is NOT a spoiler, and not approved within a reasonable time, message one of the mods and we will help you out. Also feel free to message us if you have any other questions concerning this."
Endgame is believed to wrap up more than 10 years worth of Marvel Cinematic Universe storytelling that began back in 2008 with the original Iron Man. The film marks the end of the MCU Phase 3. Marvel is expected to provide the first details on Phase 4 after the release of Spider-Man: Far From Home in July, so keep checking back for that.
Ahead of that, Disney and Marvel have released a new Endgame trailer. This one celebrates the journey so far, giving each character that has been pivotal to getting us where we are some time in the spotlight, so fans can reminisce.
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Brie Larson, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Don Cheadle, Jeremy Renner, Danai Gurira, Paul Rudd, and Josh Brolin star in Endgame. Tickets went on sale last week, and so far presales have far exceeded those for Captain Marvel, Infinity War, Aquaman, and Star Wars: The Last Jedi combined.

Hoda Kotb’s mornings just got a little bit busier, thanks to the newest member of her family.
On Tuesday, Kotb did a phone interview with her “Today Show” colleagues and revealed that she has adopted a baby girl, whom she’s named Hope Catherine Kotb.
Kotb already has a 2-year-old, Hayley Joy, who is also adopted.
“I’m feeding her, and I can’t believe it,” Kotb tearfully told her co-workers of the new baby. “I’m so happy she’s here!”
Hayley is also enjoying her new sibling, Kotb said.
“This morning at breakfast, [Haley] was trying to feed [Hope] her raspberries, and I was like, ‘Not yet, babe,’” Hoda recounted. “She was literally marching around saying, ‘I’m a big sister!’”
Kotb also explained the meaning behind her new daughter’s name.
“The name came because I think there are a lot of women out there who are hoping their day is coming too, you know?” she said.
Kotb said the baby’s middle name, “Catherine,” is also her best friend’s daughter’s name.
“It just so happens the weekend when [Hope] was born, it was also John’s birthday, my best friend’s husband who passed, and they said that they promised him that they would come to New York and go to Yankee Stadium to a baseball game for him on his birthday in heaven,” she said.
“And so it was a very emotional time for all of us, and I said to Catherine, ‘You’re the strongest kid I know.’ So I wanted to name her after Catherine.”
How close are the cast of Avengers: Endgame? Chris Evans recently shared his favorite photo with co-star Scarlett Johansson and they look pretty chummy. After

On more than one occasion, the cast of the Avengers films has talked about their bond being like a family.
In 2015, Evans told Esquire that Chris Hemsworth was “like a brother,” explaining: “Oh yeah, [Chris Hemsworth] is like a brother at this point. We’ve had a very similar trajectory in, at least, being welcomed into this world. We both took these [Marvel hero] roles. We were both timid and nervous and didn’t know how it was gonna play out. It’s been nice to kind of share this with him. We each have the standalone films as well, which can be a whole separate element of pressure and anxiety, and he’s just been so helpful to me. Just to have someone else who’s going through the same struggles I am.”
Karen Gillan, who pays Nebula, told E! News: “Hanging out with everyone on the set is one of the best parts of this job because it does have this large, extended family feel.”
Robert Downey Jr., Chris Hemsworth, Johansson, Evans, and Jeremy Renner all got tattoos following the
The tattoo is a mashup of the Avengers logo and the number six, representing the original six superheroes: Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye.
Robert Downey Jr. told Entertainment Weekly about the ink, explaining: “Five of the original six Avengers got a tattoo. And the sixth was the tattoo artist, who gave it to five of us, the one who opted out being Mark Ruffalo. It was Johansson’s idea, and she and Evans did it in New York. Then, their New York guy, Josh Lord, who is amazing, flew out to LA, he did me, did Renner, and then we just bullied Hemsworth into doing it, and he got it.”
He added: “And each one of us drew a line on the artist with his own tattoo gun and it was a total massacre. Each of us contributed to giving the tattoo artist the sixth tattoo that he designed for us. By the way, he’s got another one on him that Scarlett did, which is beautiful, which is crazy, because the line she drew on him, which was just supposed to be a straight line, looked like a lightning bolt. It was a mess.”
Before joining the Avengers, playing Steve Rogers/Captain America and Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow, Evans and Johansson had worked together in two other films — 2004’s The Perfect Score and 2007’s The Nanny Diaries.
Johansson told Variety about their time working on The Perfect Score, explaining: “Our storylines didn’t cross paths too much. We did have one scene where we had to sing together. I was talking to Chris about it the other day, actually.”
Mark Ruffalo, who plays The Hulk, shared the cutest pic of Evans and Johansson having some downtime during filming, kicking back to play Game Boy together. Ruffalo tweeted: “#FBF to our long days on the #AvengersEndgame set @ChrisEvans.”
Evans responded, “This is my new favorite picture,” following it up with what he called “an oldie” GIF of him and Johansson playing a hand slap game and noting “We’ve been playing games on set since 2002!”
