1 Person Has a Major Complaint About Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's New Instagram - The Cheat Sheet

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are brand new to the Instagram world — sort of. They previously were a part of the Kensington Palace account, but since they split households with Prince William and Kate Middleton, they now have their own official Instagram. However, one person has a major complaint about the couple’s new page — and he’s not wrong for being mad.

Meghan and Harry previously shared an Instagram with Will and Kate

Before Harry met Meghan, he lived alone at Kensington Palace but was neighbors with Will and Kate. Will and Harry hadn’t split their households, so the Kensington Palace Instagram highlighted both brothers. Once Harry and Meghan wed, they continued to live at Kensington Palace with their in-laws. And that meant the Kensington Instagram had to be equally shared between both couples. While many people adore Meghan, some began to say negative things in the comments section of her photos, and others complained that they only wanted to see Will and Kate on the Instagram.

When the couple decided to move homes and split households, they got their own Instagram

After Meghan and Harry announced their pregnancy, they also announced they’d be moving to Frogmore Cottage on the grounds of Windsor Castle, and Harry and Will would split their royal households. Harry and Meghan now operate out of Buckingham Palace, with Will and Kate remaining at Kensington Palace. But with the division also came the separation of the two couples on social media. At the same time Harry and Meghan made their official move, the royal family rolled out a brand new Instagram account dedicated only to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

One man has a good reason to be annoyed — Harry and Meghan stole his Instagram

While everyone was thrilled to see Meghan and Harry with their own account, one man in the U.K. didn’t share in the excitement. According to BBC, Instagram reportedly stole Kevin Keiley’s username right out from under him. He’d been @sussexroyal for years and said that he woke up earlier this week to learn that his handle had been changed to @_sussexroyal_. He felt it was unethical of the app to take his name without any kind of warning or permission. The app argued that the account had been inactive, but the man said it was still rightfully his account.

The man wants an explanation from Instagram for taking his name without consent

“I got a jokey text from my son, which said, ‘Ha ha, I see your handle has gone then,” Keiley said of his stolen account name. When he looked on Instagram, his son was right. And now, Keiley wants an explanation. Instagram clapped back saying their policy allows them to make changes to an Instagram account if it’s been inactive for some time. At this point, Keiley said he’s hesitant to use the app again after what they did. It’s unclear if Meghan and Harry were aware the handle belonged to someone else, but either way, it’s theirs now.

Why Does the Media Treat Meghan Markle Differently Than Kate Middleton? - The Cheat Sheet

Since 2003, when Prince William First announced that he was dating Kate Middleton, all eyes were on the now Duchess of Cambridge. At one point, poor Kate must have felt as if she could do no right. Almost everywhere you looked, there was a magazine or other publication that was scrutinizing her for anything she did. Once Kate and William got married, a lot of people thought that the media’s attention would suddenly die down. However, just the opposite happened. The media seems to be more intrusive than ever now that she is married to the prince and has three children of her own.

When Prince Harry announced that he was dating an American actress in 2016, Kate might have let out a brief sigh of relief, hoping that the media would pay more attention to Meghan Markle than her. And while the media does seem to be obsessed with learning every aspect of Markle’s life, they still have, and will continue to have, a vested interest in Kate.

The media obviously seems to be enamored with both of the duchesses. But is one of them getting treated differently than the other by the media? Here is what we know about how Markle and Middleton are viewed by the public eye.

The media views Meghan Markle as a unique woman

When Kate got engaged to William, it was big news at the time due to the fact that Kate was considered a “commoner.” While it is not unheard of for royals to marry commoners, William was one of the first royals in the direct line of the throne to marry someone who was not a member of the aristocracy or nobility. Being that Kate was the only commoner in this century to marry so close to the throne, people were understandably curious about how Kate would be able to adjust to royal life.

When Harry married Meghan, people were more than just a little curious about the American actress — they were downright blown away. Harry wasn’t just marrying a “commoner,” he was marrying an American; someone who knew very little about how a monarchy even worked. People all over the world became obsessed with learning more about how a divorced American woman was able to snag her very own, real-life Prince Charming.

The media was also eager to weigh in on the unique situation as well. Although she is neither the first American woman to marry into a royal family nor even the first American actress to become a royal — award-winning actress, Grace Kelly, married a Moroccan prince in 1956 — the media had portrayed her as somewhat of a revolutionary person. Instead of being praised for that, however, they seemed to instead try to dig around until they could find out any and all faults that she may have, and even spreading rumors about her relationships with the other members of the royal family.

Meghan Markle’s family only adds fuel to the fire

While it does seem like the media seems to care more about digging up on dirt on Meghan than it does Kate, there may be a good reason for that: Meghan is an easier target. When it comes to trying to finding out anything negative about the Duchess of Sussex, the media does not have to work too hard. Meghan’s father and half-sister are always more than happy to give them what they want. They use every opportunity that they can to make Meghan look as if she does not care about her family back home.

Last Christmas, Meghan’s half-sister, Samantha Markle, sent a Christmas card to Meghan that begged her to see her father for Christmas. She had insinuated in the card that their father probably was not going to be alive much longer and he would really like to spend his last few Christmases with Meghan.

How do we know what the card said? Well, she didn’t actually send it to Meghan. Instead, she sent a copy of it to The Mirror, who was more than happy to publish it.

Her sister had also pointed out on Twitter that Meghan did not see her father on his birthday. Although, Meghan’s absence at her father’s birthday party should have come at no surprise to her family. Especially when you consider the fact that her own father has sold numerous defaming stories about Meghan and has even published a five-page letter that Meghan wrote to him, asking him to please stop going to the media.

Why does the media treat Meghan Markle differently than Kate Middleton?

Sometimes the media paints Meghan in a good light and sometimes they showcase the negative aspects of her life. They have done the same things to Kate as well; however, the media does seem to be more in a frenzy when it comes to Markle. The fact that she is an American woman living as a royal and the fact that her family throws her under the bus at every opportunity, means that, unfortunately, the media does have more to scrutinize when it comes to Markle’s life.

However, no matter how differently the media decides to treat Meghan, you can be sure that her Prince Charming, Harry, will stand by her side and protect her as much as he can. Not that she needs his protection — Meghan’s proven to be strong and resilient.

Kurt Cobain died 25 years ago today. A fan recalls seeing Nirvana play on the verge of fame - CNN

"Who the hell is Nirvana?" Wilder asked.

The show was two days before Wilder's 24th birthday and two weeks after the release of "Nevermind," the band's landmark album. She was "mesmerized."

"I remember it was not music I'd heard before," Wilder said, "But you got the sense that this was something special."

Her friend knew the band's manager, and Wilder got to go backstage. She didn't talk to lead singer Kurt Cobain, but "I very clearly remember him sitting on a couch and looking very socially uncomfortable." She recalled a woman trying to flirt with the shy, budding rock star, who seemed unsure of himself.

"He wasn't comfortable as the center of attention," Wilder said.

A week later "Nevermind" was certified gold and the band's breakthrough hit, "Smells Like Teen Spirit," was playing constantly on MTV. Cobain -- who died less than three years later, on April 5, 1994 -- had become the reluctant voice of Generation X.

A shocking death

Cobain and Nirvana heralded rock's grunge era of the early 1990s, bookending an era dominated by '80s synth pop, New Wave and hair bands like Bon Jovi. Cobain eschewed slick, corporate rock, and his anguished lyrics and distorted riffs expressed both intimacy and rebellion.

"It was a great time to be alive in your twenties," Wilder said. Over the next few years she began regularly going to shows by similar bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden.

But she added, when you're young, "you're in this bubble thinking twenty-year-olds don't die."

Wilder remembers MTV's Kurt Loder delivering the news that Cobain had been found dead of a self-inflicted shotgun wound.

The rocker joined Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin and Jim Morrison in the so-called 27 Club, a group of famous musicians who all died unexpectedly at age 27.

At that point, Wilder had only known a couple of people who had died. "It was shocking to my generation," she said.

Nirvana's lasting influence

A quarter century later, Cobain's career continues to fascinate and inspire. Rolling Stone named he and Nirvana 30th on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time."

And of course, "Nevermind" tops Rolling Stone's list of most influential grunge albums.

Spencer Elden, who swam naked as a baby on the cover of "Nevermind," told CNN in 2011 that his father, who worked rigging special effects in Hollywood, got the gig with a friend to photograph the famous album cover. He put his infant son in the water and snapped a few photos that entered rock history.

In 2015, a 19-year-old girl in Washington found rare photos of her father playing with Cobain in his first-ever concert in Raymond, Washington in the spring of 1987.

And that same year, fans salivated over never-before-heard musical recordings of the alt-rock icon, dormant for 21 years, that surfaced ahead of filmmaker Brett Morgen's film biography "Montage of Heck."

Danny Goldberg, Nirvana's manager, released a memoir this week about his time with Cobain and the band, titled "Serving the Servant."

Nirvana wasn't the first grunge or alt-rock band, but that breakthrough moment in the fall of 1991 remains perhaps their most important contribution to music. They helped pioneer a genre of rock and helped other Seattle bands like Pearl Jam and Soundgarden reach fans around the world.

"Even if people weren't famous, 1992-1996 was a great time to hear local bands too," said Wilder, who now lives in New York City. After the Nirvana show she became focused on checking out new music. But she never saw them, or Cobain, again.

"I kind of miss that era," she said. "It was one of the happiest times of my life."

Jussie Smollett's lawyer threatens Chicago, Rahm Emanuel if they go after 'Empire' star for cash - Fox News

Jussie Smollett's legal team has promised swift action should the city of Chicago follow through with its threat to sue the "Empire" actor to reimburse the city for the cost of investigating his controversial case.

In a letter from Smollett's lawyers obtained by Fox News on Friday, Mark Geragos said Smollett "will not be intimidated into paying" the $130,000.

Geragos said if the city follows through with its threat Thursday to sue Smollett, he'll demand sworn depositions from Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Police Superintendent Eddie Johnson and the two brothers who told police Smollett paid them to "attack" him.

"Mr. Smollett vehemently denies making any false statements," the letter reads. "Your claim that Smollett filed a false police report and orchestrated his own attack is false and defamatory."

The letter concluded: "Mr. Smollett’s preference remains, however, that this matter be closed and that he be allowed to move on with his life."

The city's law department told Fox News on Thursday that Smollett, 36, "has refused to reimburse the City of Chicago for the cost of police overtime spent investigating his false police report on Jan. 29, 2019." The statement said that the law department "is now drafting a civil complaint that will be filed in the Circuit Court of Cook County. "

Per the statement, the department aims to file in the near future, and will "pursue the full measure of damages allowed under the ordinance."

In January, Smollett reported he was the victim of a homophobic and racist attack. Weeks later, he was charged with lying to police. Last month, prosecutors made the stunning announcement that they were dropping the charges.

At a news conference last Thursday, Mayor Emanuel said that the actor should "pay the city back."

The mayor stood shoulder-to-shoulder with his city's police force, denouncing prosecutors for dropping charges against Smollett and slamming the episode as a "whitewash of justice."

Smollett, who has maintained his innocence, previously pleaded not guilty to all 16 counts against him.

Smollett told police he was attacked by two masked men as he was walking home from a Chicago Subway sandwich shop at around 2 a.m. on Jan. 29. The actor, who is black and openly gay, said the masked men beat him, made derogatory comments and yelled "This is MAGA country" — an apparent reference to President Trump's campaign slogan, "Make America Great Again."

Police eventually determined the masked men were brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo, and they were identified as the men seen on surveillance video buying the rope that was hung around Smollett's neck during the alleged attack. Johnson told the press at the time that the Osundairo brothers were cooperating with authorities, and that the investigation was pivoting from a hate crime probe into an inquiry into false reporting.

'The View' tell-all author says Donald Trump is necessary 'nemesis' for liberal gabfest hosts - Fox News

The author of “Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of "The View" said the ABC News daytime talk show benefits from President Trump and the show even foreshadowed that he could outshine Hillary Clinton years before they faced off in the 2016 election.

“I think that the presence of Donald Trump has absolutely helped ‘The View.’ It’s given the show a reason to exist in terms of being able to react to all the big headlines in the news,” author Ramin Setoodeh told Fox News. “That is a notion that I’ve heard from executives and producers. It’s good for the show that Trump is president.”

“Ladies Who Punch" is the explosive inside look at the daytime gabfest created by Barbara Walters that forever changed the way debate programs are presented to viewers.

Veteran entertainment journalist Ramin Setoodeh has been covering “The View” for roughly a decade, establishing relationships with the show’s key figures in the process. He decided that the behind-the-scenes story needed to be told because it “started to feel like a Shakespearian saga” when a battle for post-Walters control started to bubble up during the journalism legend’s final seasons – but not everyone agreed that the material would result in a successful book.

“It was rejected by more than 20 publishing houses,” Setoodeh said. “It’s a bias in the publishing industry, because they saw this as a book about the media and they didn’t understand how important these women were. They didn’t understand how powerful these women are.”

He interviewed 150 people for the book, including 11 of the show’s past and current co-hosts over three years. The book details everything from tales of Walters allegedly bullying other panelists to “underlying lesbian undertones” between co-hosts.

Setoodeh said that Trump is the gift that keeps on giving to the ABC News daytime talk show, as he provided the show with nonstop content long before entering the world of politics. The former reality star had a long-running public feud with O'Donnell and he was even asked about running for president during a 2011 appearance on the show – four years before Trump actually announced his candidacy.

“Nobody actually looked at that as a political interview, but when you look back on it now… it was a political interview. I was actually there that day and it got so heated that they expanded it to another segment,” Setoodeh said.

"The View" c-host Joy Behar attacks President Trump on a regular basis.

He explained that "everyone is doing town halls now, but the ‘The View’ is really one of the first platforms" where presidential candidates would come and do interviews on daytime television.

"That was completely groundbreaking. The fact that, if you wanted to run for president, the road to the White House went through ‘The View,’ was a completely groundbreaking phenomenon. There had to be a stop, not only in Iowa and New Hampshire, but also ABC’s studio at ‘The View,’” Setoodeh said.

Just this week, Rep. Tim Ryan, D-OH, announced his 2020 presidential candidacy on the show and industry insiders have long speculated whether or not the show’s popularity, combined with falling under the ABC News umbrella, could eventually result in panelists such as Joy Behar being involved in town hall events.

ABC News did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

The “Ladies Who Punch” author said that one of his favorite stories is the result of Hillary Clinton attempting to soft launch her 2008 campaign by doing a “Very, very conversational” interview with ‘The View’ right before Christmas in 2006. But, in a bit of foreshadowing, she was eclipsed by Trump.

“Hillary went on to discuss opening Christmas presents with Bill and Chelsea, why she’s thinking about running for the White House. It was supposed to be a soft launch of her campaign, to see how she’s doing with these questions and sort of test how she did on daytime show. And that was the day that Rosie O'Donnell did her roast of Trump and Hillary’s appearance was completely overshadowed,” he said. “It’s ironic because Hillary and Trump, there are connections to them that date back to ‘The View.’”

“Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump also both attended Star Jones’ wedding and sat at the same table in 2004. The show has been this strange bridge between the two candidates, and I think that shows it’s cultural importance,” he said.

O'Donnell, Jones, Whoopi Goldberg, Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Debbie Matenopoulos, and Jenny McCarthy are among the rotating panelists that have made headlines over the years, but the politically charged Behar is arguably the most polarizing of the group.

“I think she’s really established herself as the resident liberal on ‘The View,’ having done the show for more than 20 years,” Setoodeh said. “Sometimes the politics of the other co-hosts aren’t as clear… with Joy you always know that she is the most liberal person on the panel.”

Behar’s star power has increased during the Trump administration, as she attacks the president and his allies on a regular basis with comments that often go viral. In recent memory, she has mocked Vice President Mike Pence’s Christian faith, declared Sen. Lindsey Graham needs to “find his testicularity” and frequently sparred with conservative co-host Meghan McCain.

As a result of the show’s popularity, “Ladies Who Punch” has created buzz throughout the media industry, landing Setoodeh an onslaught of promotional appearances in the process. He credits Trump for supplying the content the show needs to thrive, as the president has emerged as Behar’s personal punching bag.

“I don’t think ‘The View’ would be as popular, or as watched, if Joy Behar wasn’t on the show during the Trump administration,” Setoodeh said.

She made it must-see TV, she made it really political, she was really passionate and she sort of blurred the line between fights on TV versus fights backstage,” Setoodeh said. “Everything that Rosie did on that show was very personal and she made it really dramatic but really watchable and fun."

Setoodeh put his money where his mouth is and ended up selecting only Goldberg, Walters and O'Donnell for the book’s cover. He said Behar was discussed as a potential fourth illustration and joked that she could possibly pop up on the paperback.

It's the end of an era, as Kathie Lee Gifford said goodbye on Friday after 11 years on TODAY, complete with laughs, tears, hugs, champagne — and an amazing giveaway to everyone in the audience.

A live performance by Flo Rida kicked off her final episode as she entered to cheers from the crowd and hugs from both her TODAY family and her actual family, as her son, Cody, 29, was in the studio with his girlfriend.

She was decked out in a red dress, the same color she wore on her final day in 2000 with former co-host Regis Philbin during her 15-year run on the award-winning "Regis and Kathie Lee" morning show.

"I feel great,'' she said. "I have no expectations. You just want to bear it well. ... You also want to remind people of why this show worked in the beginning — because we have fun. We have a great love and affection and respect for our audience."

Kathie Lee showed how much affection she has for the audience when she pulled an Oprah and surprised everyone in the crowd by giving them each a free four-day cruise for two on Carnival Cruise Line from any Carnival U.S. port.

Not only has Kathie Lee been affiliated with Carnival Cruise Line since doing her first commercial for the company in 1984, there also is a family connection. It turns out Cody was conceived on a trip with her late husband, Frank Gifford.

"As a matter of fact, this guy, this big 6-foot-4 guy, was made on a Carnival Cruise,'' she said about Cody.

"That's good advertising,'' Cody joked.

Kathie Lee, who will be replaced on the show by Jenna Bush Hager, also reflected with co-host Hoda Kotb on why their partnership has worked all these years.

"I think it's because of you,'' Hoda said.

"Yeah, that's what I think,'' Kathie Lee joked.

Philbin also made an appearance with a sweet video tribute to his former co-host.

"Kathie Lee, the best part of my TV life was with the 15 years I spent with you from 1985 to 2000,'' he said. "We stayed friends through the entire game, and it was a lot of fun. Where you are right now, I know you’re going to be moving on to a great new career making movies and, since I’ve seen the first one, I know you’re going to be a great success. I really mean it!"

Kathie Lee also revealed that she received a giant flower bouquet at her home from a surprise sender — Howard Stern and his wife, Beth. The radio host had often lampooned her over the years before the two made peace.

"That man hated my guts for 30 years and I prayed for him every single day,'' she said. "And turned it around."

Adding to her joyful day, Friday also marked the release of a film she made in Israel called "The God Who Sees," which is available on her website and streaming platforms.

A succession of special guests who have made many appearances on the show over the years then surprised Kathie Lee to give her a proper send-off.

Actor and wrestling superstar John Cena, actor Dean Cain and actor Ryan Eggold all showed up in tribute to her. She was having her best day as she climbed into Cena's arms, hugged Cain and got a bouquet of flowers from Eggold.

To top it off, one of Kathie Lee's favorites, the legendary Barry Manilow, showed up for a live performance. She joined him onstage for a duet as they performed his classic "Can't Smile Without You."

Kathie Lee then went from smiles to holding back tears after a touching video tribute from her children, Cody and daughter Cassidy, 25, followed by an emotional hug from Cody. Cassidy, who is an actress, was unable to be there in person because she is working on a film project.

"The best qualities that my mom has, the ones that I've looked up to in my life — her heart, her kindness is something that she leads with,'' Cassidy said. "She is one of the kindest people on the planet."

As for her partner in wine, Kathie Lee and Hoda reflected on their friendship a day earlier on TODAY, talking about how they formed a close bond right from when they first started working together.

"God brought Hoda into my life for all kinds of different reasons," Kathie Lee said. "I was supposed to learn from her. She was supposed to learn from me. We were supposed to share life together."

"(Kathie Lee) totally jumped into my life in a way that I had never experienced before," Hoda said. "She stepped into it, and I was transfixed by her when we met.
